This restaurant has become one of my favorites within Elgin. The prices are decent and the food is always exceptional. I must warn that in the instance you don’t want a side from your selected dish and wish to substitute it with another, you are still getting charged as if the side was still there apart from the side you added on. If that bothers you, please request everything as is while still ordering the side apart – it essentially will be the same price. Another tip, if you want the best price for the food, I suggest going at lunch hour for the "lunch special." You will get the dish you requested while having a cup of soup and either an egg roll or veggie roll for the price of $12-14 (depending on the main dish you requested).
The servers approach tables to clean up and refill without being called over while having an outwardly friendly approach. They have the respect of looking away whenever you are ready to pay while in the tip section of the screen, which I highly appreciate. They are fluent in English and Spanish if you are concerned about miscommunication.
The place is clean and well-organized. I like the attention to detail in the decoration as well. There is also a funny aspect to the restaurant, which for me adds to the layer of homeyness to the establishment; either the owners or servers have selected to play on a large TV screen hour-long music videos showcasing digital Chinese art with seemingly Asian music in the background. It’s hilarious, from my perspective, and after a while, you tend to forget about it as you enjoy your meal. The music isn’t very loud and I sometimes like the joyfulness the music brings to the environment. I also really like the vases of water they bring to the table even without you requesting them – they are beautiful. They always bring it out alongside glass cups in case you desire it. It is free of charge!
I have not ordered the food online, so I have no experience to tell on that aspect; however, in my experiences of going inside and ordering (either for dine-in or to-go), I’ve had no issues to complain about. The food is always hot and freshly made without it taking too long. My favorite soup is hot and sour. It is not too thick or too watery, which I like. I point this out because I always find it hard to find a restaurant that serves good hot and sour soup, but I finally found it! I consider this place to be an underrated gem in Elgin, TX. I believe if they keep up with what they are doing then they can...
Read moreMy wife and I visited on a Friday evening. It was not very crowded, although there were other patrons. The building does not stand out from the outside or even inside, but the interior still is inviting enough. The server visited our table promptly after we were seated, and she stopped by regularly to check on us while we ate.
The food, though, is why we had heard good things about Angel's, and it did not disappoint. We started with two appetizers, chicken egg rolls and cheese wonton. I thought the latter in particular were very good. For our entrées, I had the Serrano beef with fried rice my, while my wife had the Mongolian beef with fried rice (which I finished), both of which were excellent.
We were pleased to see that they had an extensive boba tea selection in the menu, so we tried it out. My wife opted for the the strawberry green tea with mango boba, while I had a coffee milk tea with black sugar boba. Once again, both were very good, though I was more partial to the coffee.
All told, it was a delicious meal and a pleasant enough dining experience that I...
Read moreDid a pick up order on a Friday night from here. Customer service was friendly and nice. The restaurant is new to the area, so that was considered in my rating. The food portions were good for the price point. However, the fried rice tasted so burnt with a mix of the smell of a household cleaner....so weird...we could not eat the rice. The soup was also tasteless, literally no flavor in anyone it, except the spicy red flakes in the broth. The sesame chicken was terribly fatty, not alot of meat at all. Also, the lo mein seemed to made with fettuccine noodles and that dish also lacked flavor. Again, this restaurant is new to the area, but to stay in business they'll need to improve their flavor.. or bank on people not having taste buds...
