I live in Elizabethton and love Sammons, but the last few weeks there services has went down hill. I go once a week and order the same thing. The last few visits have been challenging. Place a order and they either leave something out or they mess it, and sometime they don't understand what your say. Like if you or sprite and you invasive the word, they think you are saying fries never had a problem until now. Just like the combs they have on the side of the building, if you order a number 4 that include fries and a sweet tea. You pull up to the window and they only give you the sliders and you tell them you are missing the fries and sweet tea until now. They say everything is rung up separate like it's your fault. What is the purpose of have combs. I don't care how they ring up the food. When I order a #4 combs with sweet tea to drink that means I want the whole meal. Your cashier should not argue with the customer and tell the customer they didn't order it right. It's not the customer fault, it's your employees fault for not ringing the order up tight. It's poor training and management in this situation. I have been eating at Sammons for years and never had any issues till now. They need to take accountability when they make a mistake and I'm not saying customer is always right, but when someone orders food the same way every time and the past few times they keep messing up. There is a problem with staff and management. I will not go...
Read moreHORRIBLE service. Remarkable incompetence.
Took several repetitions at the speaker to get them to read back the order correctly. Once that was settled, we still received wrong items multiple times at the window, each time repeating the correct items and returning the wrong ones. We finally received all but one item and asked about it (again). Despite it having been read off and confirmed at the speaker and discussed at the window, they said it wasn’t rung up and we’d have to be charged again for it - already paid $25. The item was listed off at the speaker before we paid (which took several tries itself), so it had definitely already been paid for. And even after all the other issues, they could have let a drink go. After all that, they didn’t even put the cheese on my sandwich. Utter confusion in there for a basic order - 2 meals, 2 drinks, 2 desserts - with no special directions or substitutions. Okay food but a waste of time. Train better or hire better. Definitely...
Read moreSammons is an institution in Elizabethton. Throughout most of my life, I considered their hot dogs and lemonade to be the gold standard. I was a Sammons fan way before they relocated.
A few years back, times changed and so did Sammons. Specifically, they changed their hot dogs, and it's just not the same. Such is the way of the world though. And the "new" dogs are still pretty good -- they just don't measure up to what I remember as the best hot dog around. [I get 'em with chill, onions, slaw and mustard, in case you're interested.]
The lemonade is still the best around though. And every once in a while I treat myself to one of their milkshakes: I can tell you that blackberry, peanut butter, and strawberry flavors are my favorites.
Sammons isn't quite the great value it once was (the hot dogs and small hamburgers in particular used to be priced really well), but the line of vehicles you'll often find circled around the building is evidence that many of us still enjoy...
