This is long, but people need to be aware, they clearly just want your money. First off my wife and I decided to head out of Altus and try this restaurant we keep hearing on the radio. We walk in on a not yet busy Saturday, and are seated in the back in the bar area at a table. 1) The woman who seated us put the stuff on the table and said the waitress will be out in a bit. Didn't ask if the table was alright at all. We actually wanted a booth. We weren't even asked where we wanted to sit when we first walked in. We tell the woman and she does the same thing again, not asking if the table was good for us, puts our stuff on the table and says the waitress will be out soon. We had no issue with the table, but we still weren't asked. That's a courtesy thing at most restaurants because there could easily be things customers don't like. 2) The waitress comes and we get chips/queso/salsa at the table, just like at any other Mexican resturant without asking. My wife and I are always small eaters and usually can share a whole quesadilla and it can be just fine for a meal for two. We decide on the quesadilla and say we're going to share it. We were told that since we're sharing a single meal, one of us is going to get charged a $4.99 fee because we ate the chips/queso/salsa and didn't order a meal with it. 3) Finding this a very large fee for not so great queso, I knew on the menu it said they didn't do half orders. I still asked if we could both just get half orders of the quesadilla, because we both cannot eat an entire quesadilla in one sitting, we just weren't that hungry, and was assured they couldn't do that. So with the quesadilla and the fee we would be paying a total of $14 for ONE QUESADILLA. We asked the waitress to come back because we were going to find something we could both order that wasn't that small. We couldn't find anything so we told the waitress we wanted to just not order anything and just pay for our drinks. We were told we would be charged the $4.99 (making it $10 for the both of us to eat chips/queso/salsa). So we asked to speak to the manager. We spoke to the manager and he assured me I could not get the extra fee waived because we were sharing it and also he couldn't just let us not pay the $4.99 fee for the both of us. 4) We also asked if we could both get a kids meal, but because we weren't 8 years or younger, we would both be charged a $2 fee. (Making the total $16 for 2 kids quesadillas). Tired of making sense of it all, I decided to just pay the $10 for the both of us (the $4.99 fee for the each of us) so we could just leave. So he goes to get the check. He comes back a few minutes later and says he is "just going to let it slide this time because it seems it wasn't explained to me correctly." If you provide chips and salsa at a table without even asking them if they wanted it, there should be no charge. Yes that part was not explained and I don't think it ever is to everyone. Chips and salsa is usually complimentary at a Mexican restaurant.... I understand the reasoning behind that because people could just eat chips and salsa and leave, but that shouldn't effect everyone. Just because we are not big eaters, we are going to be charged AT LEAST $14 for one quesadilla for 2 people, when the menu price for a quesadilla is $9. I have been to many restaurants before, almost always shared our plate of food and have NEVER encountered this type of charge for splitting it! Even large chains don't charge a fee for things like that... I guess it is because the money was needed to pay for the ridiculous colors that were everywhere! Needless to say, I will not be going back, I would be too afraid I would be charged a fee for trying to use the restrooms...

This is where I messed up, folks. I fell for a simple aesthetic trick that Pedro’s so expertly played. The waitress eventually came to the tables after about 20 minutes of waiting (a short eternity when you're hungry), took our drink orders, then took another 15 minutes to bring us our drinks. During this time, we ate our chips, but of course you've eaten half a basket by the time you realize that your throat is dry and burning from the chips and salsa and you have no drink. As she brought us our drinks and salsa refills, she managed to spill a full container of salsa on my sister’s leg, which resulted in the red salsa also finding its way onto my brand new white shirt and her equally white pants. My grandma also noted that her margarita "on the rocks" had no ice in it. Seriously, the waitress had no concept of what "on the rocks" meant, so the margarita arrived in a luke-warm state. I ordered a personal favorite of mine, a chimichanga with shredded chicken inside. I'm confident that the darn thing was not filled with the normal queso sauce that 99.99% of all Mexican restaurants use for the same dish, but this one...Pedro's...they used mozzarella cheese, as if I had ordered a tray of mozzarella sticks. At that point in time I should’ve just asked for a cup of marinara sauce instead of beans, rice or sour cream. The service that followed was seriously so painfully slow that I could have applied for a job there, got accepted, trained for the position, and then waited at my own table by the time she finally came around to give us our check...

I had 4-5 kinds of salsa plus picked jalapenos/carrots/onions and chopped cilantro. This, and free chips, yet another salsa, and the salsa was brought out with a small cup of queso.......for each of us!!!
We both got combo plates - one with two enchiladas, Mexican potatoes and rice, the other with a chile relleno and an enchilada. At the waitress' suggestion i got one enchilada with red sauce and one with their unique twist on sour cream sauce. Both were delicious!!! We both got beef echiladas - there were numerous choices. The rice was great; the potatoes were delicious and unique (thick round slices seasoned with Mexican spices). The beef in the enchiladas was perfectly seasoned. I'm told that the beans were good too.
Have I mentioned the homemade tortillas? Wonderful!!!!!
The plates were huge; in fact, we both had leftovers to take home. These Texans were won over big time with their food.
We went on a suggestion from where we stayed; we were grateful for the suggestion! We ate at Pedro's for a...
