Since Google reviews can be edited, this is a review based solely on the last 6 weeks, subject to revision if things improve. My girlfriend and I live close by. We go here roughly once a week. We were both immediately impressed with the food quality here. I often get chicken fajitas and the fajita chicken is the best in NWA, by far. My gf usually gets 2 enchiladas and a crunchy taco, and she raves about the red sauce. But not long ago things started to change for the worse. Exempting our most recent visit, our food order got messed up somewhere along the way like 3 or 4 times in a row. Being a small business with friendly staff who fixes things up quickly, we really don't mind the mistakes. We're all human and I know what it's like to work in a restaurant (both as wait staff and kitchen crew). As well, we often order the same things, but our final tab would be noticeably different at times, sometimes higher, sometimes lower (e.g., one day we were charged about $5 more and the next visit $5 less). Rising food costs is understandable in a pandemic, but that doesn't tell the full story given the ups and downs described. With our most recent visit, a la carte enchiladas were not available. So, we asked about these recent changes. It was explained that, in the past, some other items that didn't sell well were totally removed from the menu. That makes sense. What does not make sense is removing the a la carte option from the menu for items that remain as components of meals (e.g., enchiladas). You still sell enchiladas, so what's the problem? Currently, you're forcing customers to pay more for food they don't even want, like rice and beans (fillers, in my book). That's just a terrible look, especially when so many other items remain available as a la carte options.
The food quality here is awesome. The employees are very friendly. What has changed for the worse is the quality of service and decision-making by leadership. Whoever is making decisions about the menu probably shouldn't be. They seem to lack an awareness beyond superficial financial considerations. Looking to improve your bottom line? Well, if you make poorly calculated decisions that run people off, your financial situation will be far worse. Therefore, this review focuses solely on a critique of leadership. Train your employees and learn how to make better...
Read moreFirst impression you walk in it's a little warm. But I overlooked that right away. Next thing, they brought us chips that were way over cooked. Then we asked for more chips discarding many of them and they brought us more burnt chips. So now you're picking through not eating the burnt ones. This really does not make a lot of sense to me. Still trying to give it a chance at this point. The girl comes over we immediately order street tacos. Now the place is not crowded it's about 1 on a Saturday. So we place our order. Then about 5 minutes later three Mexican guy sitting at a table down a little ways from us. They Place their order also which appears to be the owner another Mexican guy. Not really thinking anything at this point but I am very observant. I've never been here before but I pay attention. And saying that me my son and my youngest son are waiting for our food now. About 10 minutes roll by and the girl that serves our table walks by with big plates of beef and rice and beans to the Hispanic guys that ordered after we did. We wait about 7 or 8 minutes more and then we get our food. Being a 45 year old white male at this point I was to say pretty irritated. It's really getting old with this type of bias. There was absolutely no reason for them to get their food first. I can clearly see what was going on sorry to say. The food was not bad but the portions they gave my boys on the tacos was Slim. I think you get the idea of this place. When a Mexican restaurant owner serves Mexican people that ordered after you do then reverse discrimination is alive and well. I guess people just think that were oblivious to what's going on around us. We definitely keep notes on these type of things and will never return. I did give the girl that helped us $5 tip on a $30 bill. I hope she gets her tip and she did a pretty good job. To the Caucasian girl that helped us. Next time grab the other 10 baskets of chips that aren't...
Read moreWe were out to dinner here with my kids, family and friends and we were verbally abused by another customer who even had the nerve to come over to our table and sit down at our table after being asked not to! It started with my son walking back and forth from our table to the tv to watch the baseball game when she asked my child to stop while he was watching the game away from the table. I politely walked over and asked her if there was an issue with my child to come talk to us rather than the my child. She proceeded to insanity tell me and my wife that we were bad parents and telling us that we should pay for her meal. We asked the lady to leave our table many times as she pointed her finger in our face. we felt uncomfortable and she proceeded to stay even after being asked to leave our table. Not once did management come over to help us get the lady (who owns white river creamery here locally) to leave us alone. We have eaten here many times and extremely disappointed especially in management that they were no where to be found when we could have used their help. It ruined our night out and we will not be returning to this restaurant. Management is in charge of the establishment and could have at anytime stepped in to ask the lady to go sit back...
