Cancun Mexican Grill Ellis Ks — Restaurant in Ellis

This is an amazing Mexican food restaurant, located off the Ellis exit on I – 70. I took this exit to get gas and noticed this restaurant was only the food located off the exit. I was very curious seeing a Mexican restaurant in a very austere location, so I tried it. Every part of the meal was incredible, starting with the chips and salsa. The chips and salsa were fresh and extremely flavorful. I rarely eat all the chips and salsa when I am dining solo, but they were so good I ate the entire basket throughout the meal. I ordered the Cancun special, which are basically kicked-up fajitas with steak, chorizo, chicken shrimp and sautéed vegetables. The entrée had exceptional flavor and the tortillas were freshly made. The side dishes which included rice, beans and guacamole salad were phenomenal. This meal was truly exceptional, there was not any portion of the meal that did nit have a ton of flavor. I’m an African American truck driver saw that the reviews was great thought I would take me wife here for dinner and we felt unwelcome..We entered ask for menu and the white lady gave us the menu walked off not welcoming us demonstrating basic customer service skills of course we been to many restaurants but immediately my wife like she didn’t want to eat here but they had a bar and I wanted a drink and the bartender service was horrible and I been a bartender and his level of service sucked we waited awhile before we got served and he as if he didn’t want to serve us but at the end of the day I didn’t tip and wrote on the receipt I didn’t tip because of the service and said I didn’t think they don’t like blk ppl so if you a black truck driver enter at your own risk I hope my expression on my experience matters and others after our experience...

If I could do minus in the stars for food I would. I ordered chicken taquitos and there was a fly wrapped and fried into it. Fortunately, I saw it after 1 bite. I was already skeptical with the CONSTANT swishing away of the flies in the dining area. This used to be a place our group of 6 stopped everytime we traveled through, it has consistently been declining in every area. Four years ago I gave it 5 stars, I hate these types of edits for a small business. I strongly feel like folks should know though. We will NOT be stopping here ever again.
