Me and my family have been waiting to eat there since they opened up. It is me, my fiance and 4 kids. We finally had a moment to go out to eat and we decided to go to Crazy Mexico on Church Street in Burlington NC. We were all excited. As soon as we walked in, we waited for approximately 15 mintues to be seated with nobody in feont of us or in line waiting to be seated. After we were finally seated in a back corner of the restaurant, we waited for our drink orders to be taken while we were looking at the menu. No problem there. We ordered drinks, they came out and the waitress made her way around the table to take orders. Except, the waitress forgot to take my order (i let her know) so I could actually do what I came to do amd that was to eat. Additionally, my childrens drinks were empty and never refilled until i mentioned it. The food was horrible, desert (sopapias) were burnt AND water, usually free cost the same as a soft drink. The waitress kept forgetting everything we asked for and would frequently see her doing something completely different while we were waiting for food, desert, to go boxes ( which were also forgotten about) etc. This was a monday night with less than 18 people in the restaurant at the time. If you want to be purpetually ignored and love terrible food, go there. Otherwise, go to another established mexican restaurant in Alamance County that actually cares about service and good food. We were NOT satisfied and will not return, even if...
Read moreWe were visiting family in Burlington amd it was decided that we were going to a "Crazy Mexican" restaurant. As a foodie, naturally my ears perked up and without even researching it I was all in! So we head over to experience what I had imagined to be a uniquely festive meal. And, it didn't disappoint!
They had ample parking outside, and upon entering you see a vast array of seating and a full bar in front of you. The chairs in this place are unique and festive, check out the art on them when you go. Being a Friday it was rather empty at around 8pm. Our large party was promptly seated, drinks ordered, and queso was flowing. Most of our table shared a margarita pitcher, and they got the fresh kind without the margarita mix. FRESH squeezed margaritas are the best so be sure to ask for it!
For our meal we shared a few entrees including the chicken fajitas and pollo chipotle. The pollo chipotle was the favorite with just the right amount of spice. The only area of improvement I could suggest is the service, which was slow and it took forever for them to put the game we were trying to watch on the TVs. Given the place was fairly empty, we figured it shouldn't have been such a challenge.
Certainly that is far from a deal breaker so go here and get...

UPDATED 9/22/23 - I ordered the Quesabirria. I am very picky about Birria. It was very good. I added salt to the broth to pull out more spice flavor, a long with the extra hot salsa served with the dish to live it up. The meat and cheese inside the tortillas is excellent and plentiful. Served with rice, I poured the leftover broth into the rice to bring it home, and that is excellent as well.
Original review: Cheeky Mexican decor, a name that doesn't quite fit, and great food. The quesadilla I had was HUGE with steak, chicken and shrimp for a fair price, choriqueso dip excellent. Salsa flavorful, fresh and very good. Chips crispy and warm. Service attentive. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but you have to try this place....
