Made it out to Joe's FatBoy BBQ in Elsa Texas. The best part was that I had the honor of meeting the PITMASTER behind Joe's bbq, his 16 year old daughter Melaniegh Contreras! She has been on the pit since she was 12 , bbqing up a storm. She says, she goes to school smelling like smoke because she smokes the Brisket overnight and wakes up before school to wrap them. I love the story behind Joe's fatboy bbq!! This is THE REASON I LIVE SUPPORTING LOCAL!! Go see them ya'll and tell them you saw it on RGV Restaur-aholic!

Have eaten here twice now. Their brisket sandwich is awesome! But get the sliced brisket, not chopped. Just 2 nights ago, we had Joe's full slab of ribs. At 3:00 p.m., he only had a slab and a half left. Joe's saved the full slab for us until the storm passed. Then there was an issue of flooded streets. Joe went out and checked the streets to make sure we could get to him, then called me back! When i arrived, Joe was at the window and motioned for me to stay in the truck. A few minutes later, Joe brought our dinner to my truck! He said he didn't want me getting wet. Totally bill for full slab of ribs, 2 orders of beans, one order of homemade fries and bread was just under $40!! His fries immediately reminded me of my Mothers homemade fries! Joe is a very nice man & super friendly! Joe's 18 year old daughter is the Pitmaster, and she really knows how to BBQ! The only suggestion I would have is to add Cole Slaw to your menu of sides. There is also outdoor seating. Their place is a little hard to find. Turn east at Scooter's Coffee. Go one block, turn right. He will be on the left, south side of the big building on the east side of road. If you go past the Elsa Police Department, turn around! You missed him. Joe's FatBoy is well worth the effort to find him. He does sell out quickly, so go early and check out his Facebook page. If you're in the Elsa, TX, please check out and support this small family business! You won't regret it! Tell Joe that Don sent you!

Went to my home town to check on my rental property, it’s been awhile I haven’t stopped well today I was craving some chicken I calledJoe, he had my order ready quick and man o man! The food is always hot and full of flavor! Highly recommend this place! I’ll never forget a couple years ago he was in his food trailer I stopped for a Chicken plate and he sold out that time so I got me brisket and as I was leaving he called me a gave me a hot off the pit drumstick with bbq sauce and said “ no te completo el Plato pero si una piernita carnal”.. man that meant a lot.. stay smoking and stay blessed..

It pains me to give 2 stars because the customer service is excellent, but the main reason to visit this place is to have some smoked meats. The brisket had a very mild smokey flavor and lacked a smoke ring. Tenderness was fine, but was a dry. When I was there I saw a man receive a sample and he claimed it was “bruto!” Let me tell you, as a bbq fanatic I was very disappointed. The turkey was very dry as well and I couldn’t believe that I was served store bought sausage from a bbq joint! If it is not then I apologize, but it tastes exactly like the sausage one can buy at heb or Walmart and I would suggest to re-evaluate the recipe. Overall it’s not horrible and serves as a quick fix if you’re craving some bbq, but if you’ve had some real Texas bbq you would know the food is...

After waiting 20 minutes to get a brisket sandwich and a burger they don’t bring the napkins not ketchup and drink , burger was mildly burnt and the fries were soaked in oil

Brisket was falling all over the plate since they chop it up like a sloppy Joe

Worst part I don’t think that many people like to enjoy dinner with a warm drink , common couldn’t even at least put ice in the ice chest to keep the drink cold

Customer service needs a lot of work , not so friendly nor do they know what’s on the menu , I’m not even sure if they were right but they insisted that the burger doesn’t come with onions so didn’t meet expectations of a bbq joint

Probably will return but more...
