My husband and I try to eat pretty healthy and generally don’t even really like donuts, but this is less of a food and more of a transcendental experience.

I had the strawberry cake donut, and the lady said they also have blueberry but it was sold out. If the blueberry is even better than the strawberry, I can’t imagine how delicious it is. The texture is indescribable; crispy yet moist.

My husband had a delectable savory treat and we got the chocolate sprinkled for our 3 year old, which was a fresh and perfect variation of the classic.

Decided to stop by on my way back from Jones Pass. The first thing that struck me was the smell in the shop. It smelled right. I knew the donuts were going to be great by the smell and the color of the Raised Glazed donuts. I bought 4 donuts - glazed, chocolate frosted, strawberry filled, and blueberry cake. The yeasted donut base is light and airy and taste like they rest the dough overnight. The cake donut was a little under-fried for my liking but I am totally nitpicking. Everything was delicious and not too sweet!

It sucks so much that the best donuts I have had since moving to Denver 10 years ago is in Empire. Seriously, if you pass through Empire for any reason, please get donuts from here....
