This is your typical italian restaurant/pizza joint that you find in every town. Went for a fun celebratory lunch for my Grandson. He and his friend were in their booth, my Bff and I were in another. Boys started with 2 Rootbeer sodas and one order of Fried Mozzarella, my Bff had a cup of their seafood chowder and I ordered a bowl. It was very flavorful and creamy. She had a gingerale and i chose a glass of merlot. The boys ordered a large pepperoni pizza 🍕 and our table ordered a chicken Avocado 🥑 wrap with onion rings and an order of their stuffed mushrooms. The boys enjoyed the pizza, my bff enjoyed her wrap and the onion rings were crispy and good. The seafood stuffed mushrooms had a bizarre sweet taste that mimicked miracle whip mayo and diced pimento 😬 it was sweet, not savory as one would expect. I ate about 3/4 of one and sent them back. Totally not enjoyable. For dessert we originally wanted cheesecake 😋 but, they were out. We then asked about their cannolis, they were out of those as well. My friend and I settled for a piece of carrot cake to split and the boys each got a slice of chocolate lava cake. The boys devoured their desserts and said they were tasty. The carrot cake had an odd texture and tasted like play-doh 😬 did not eat my half, my bff said it wasn't great but it wasn't bad and ate it. It was our first time dining here. It's a steady-busy place on a Saturday. Our waitress was pleasant and accommodating (she never gave us her name) I ended up having a 2nd merlot while my bff and I sat and chatted. Total for our afternoon was $124.53 (felt this was kinda pricy for what we had tbh) left the waitress her tip and headed out. Not sure if we'll be back or not. Wasn't overly wowed...
Read moreThe food was decent but very expensive. About $38 for a large margherita pizza and a Greek salad. It wasn't any better than what I can make at home. The mozzarella was not the fresh slices that usually come on a margherita. It was the shredded stuff, and the taste was not great. The tomatoes were diced and didn't seem fresh, they didn't taste very flavorful either. Usually that kind of pizza has fresh tomato slices that taste really good. It was a normal large size pizza, and cost about $26. I've never paid that much for a specialty pizza anywhere, especially one that's just dough, sauce, basil and cheese. The Greek salad had enough feta and olives, but the other toppings were skimpy. I literally had three pieces of onion, and they were very small. So small that I ate them in one bite and could barely taste them. They were about the size of a quarter and paper thin. There were three slices of pepper, and those too were very skinny and small. I couldn't even taste them in the salad, and ate them in two bites. I've gotten this order lots of times at other restaurants, and I've never paid this much. Other places also use a reasonable amount of toppings on their salads, this salad was just pitiful- especially for $12 and change. It was mostly lettuce, and lettuce is inexpensive. The container was also smaller than what I have gotten at other places. This was my first time coming here, as I just moved to Connecticut. At these prices, I won't be back. Overall the food was average tasting, under portioned,...
Read moreAfter a long Saturday of errands and to-do lists, we were famished by 5pm. Rang up Lulu's from the grocery store lot (errand #10000) and ordered 2 specialty pizzas: Meat Lovers for my husband, and a Mediterranean for me. Despite the "getting busy" hour, our pizzas were ready in 20 minutes for pickup.
It was our first time ordering from Lulu's, and we were not disappointed! My husband loved the Meat Lovers: bacon, hamburger, pepperoni, ham, sausage. How can you go wrong? But he also liked the sauce, which he can be very picky about.
My Mediterranean was fabulous: garlic, olives, spinach, feta, ricotta, and tender chunks of eggplant that was tender and breaded to perfection. This is my new favorite pizza.
The two small specialty pies came to just under $25, and I got 3 meals from mine (hubby got 1 meal and a snack from his, lol). We'll definitely be back!
**2020 — Lulu’s is still our favorite pizza in Enfield (and the area in general). It’s just consistently excellent. We’re still hooked on our favorites from my original review, but I’ve added a third. It’s jalapeño and bacon, and is my youngest son’s...
