Really Great Food and Prices Only Downside is Super Busy Like Tons of People All The Time..! Any Time Of Day!!
So Certain Things Were Forgotten From Customer Service Standpoint came in with 2 children my wife and I and no where to sit and staff would not clear out people done quick enough as there was numerous people waiting for tables booths and we needed a booth to secure a car seat but more tables than booths so our 2 month old was secured to chair best we could not as safe I'd like to feel comfortable. Operational aspect was very busy, tons of customers keep piling in and although comfy there was little space surrounded by other chairs tables people jammed packed. Came in with 4 had only 2 sets of silverware had to ask for 2 for my wife and I which was not noticed until after our food came out. Now the positives...... Good atmosphere of people and family's all jammed packed together laughing enjoying company nearby arm's length or less from each other. Staff were very attentive as first time patrons as many people from my fire department highly recommended this place. The waitress was excellent and knew alot in regards to most popular dishes etc. Owner on site as main cashier was super awesome. Food was really great especially the french toast and my platter all low fair priced. Would definitely go again hopefully with less packed but very...
Read moreI am literally shocked by the reviews here. SHOCKED. This place was awful! Stopped in on the way home, looking for breakfast. The parking lot was full and the place was packed, so we thought we hit the ticket! After being seated at a DIRTY table, it then took almost 20 minutes for someone to even bring us menus (even though the woman who sat us was just sitting and talking). I love coffee, and I didn't think it was possible to mess it up, but it tasted like metal. I ordered a western omelette with cheese. My friend a cheese omelette-- both w/ home fires. The omelette's came out LOOKING okay, but the potatoes were neon yellow, no joke, NEON YELLOW! After tasting my omelette, the egg tasted like nothing and the ham in my omelette tasted like it was from a can (spam? EWWWWW!), there was almost no cheese in it- which was probably good, because the cheese taste like it was old. my friend said his was disgusting and only ate some of it after adding a mountain of salt and pepper to get some taste. I literally was able to eat about 3 bites of egg and the potatoes were equally disgusting. I ended up leaving hungry and completely grossed out by the food. Should have known by the fact that this place was on Hazard Ave... their food is a HAZARDOUS to your health. Such a disappointment since I LOVE...
Read moreDecent place for breakfast. I first came here over 10 years ago, and once in a while I have been getting breakfast here ever since. It's a quaint New England diner -- full menu for breakfast and several lunch options too. Prices are reasonable, service has been generally friendly. The food, though, is just okay, nothing more. For my usual breakfast, eggs turn out fine, home fries are salty and a bit undercooked and could use some leveling up with other spices. And from my time working in food service distribution, I can tell they skimp out on quality ingredients and cooking things fresh in-house, just by the taste and presentation alone. The bacon, for example, I'm almost positive is bought pre-cooked, they just heat it up for you out of a package. That's not necessarily that bad, but it holds the food back from its potential.
I just come here when I don't feel like cooking on a weekend morning, because I could pretty easily cook a better-tasting and fresher breakfast at home myself, and I'm no chef. Country Diner I think is best when you want to get friends or family together for breakfast and no one feels like cooking themselves. One caution I would give is that it gets extremely busy in here at peak breakfast hours, especially...
