So...tonight I asked my wife what she wanted for dinner...her reply was- "How about Ice Cream Sundaes?"...So off we went to Kristy's Whistle Stop...Not a very healthy dinner...I know...I know...but every once in a while...LOL...I had the Fat Mama, but I get chocolate syrup instead of hot fudge(order the Medium, not the Large, the Medium is HUGE!)...and my wife had the Brownie Sundae...we really enjoyed our ice cream treats and we'll be back again this summer...on the way out we saw someone else with the same idea we had...Sundaes for dinner with a Large order of French Fries...OMG...it was the biggest order of Fries I have ever seen! LOL...Update: Hot day today, July 3rd...Great dinner at home...Chicken Parm Ravioli and a quick trip to Hobby Lobby...on our way we stop at our new Favorite ice cream stop for Sundaes...Fat Mamma and Fat Daddy!

With it's weather-beaten building, dirt triangular shaped parking lot, and covered outside seating area that looks like a picnic grove, this place feels as much like a 1950s road side attraction as it does a great place to eat. Coupled with its 1950s sock hop decor, and super friendly service, this place oozes with charm. A kids sized ice cream was a Dairy Queen small, and a small was a Dairy Queen medium. You can almost feel the weight of the creaminess. It is on the busy Route 11 & 15, and set in a strange intersection against a cliff, so if you're not familiar with the area, check Google maps, and street view photos so you have a plan for your entrance. It is worth a little bit of mud on the wheel wells.

Edit: came back here a year later and it's still the best. No ice cream I've had anywhere else tastes like it, and that cheesesteak sandwich was incredible! Plus, a cone, sandwich, and fried pickles for only $20! Hands down the best meal I've ever had in PA! And very possibly the best soft serve ice cream I've ever had anywhere. Service was perfect, all the food was incredibly delicious, and the total bill for a burger, fried green tomatoes, sundae, and whoopie pie was well under $30. That's an incredible value for such delicious food. This is an absolute must-visit restaurant for anyone living in or traveling through PA. It will not disappoint.

My family and I have been wanting to visit Kristy's for a while after reading all the great reviews. For the life of me, I do not understand the 4+ star ratings they have received. Our first impression was the outdoor concrete tables that were absolutely FILTHY. One of them had a dirty bus tub on top and a wet floor mat on the seat. Once inside, it was chaotic and there was a long line. The teenagers at the counter fooled and joked around with other teens that were ordering while many people waited to be helped. The teen who finally waited on us, was abrupt and unfriendly. We had a question about "peddle sauce" that was listed on a burger in the menu, which she had to ask another employee what it was. We ordered 3 hamburgers, a large fry and 2 sodas. The sodas were 3/4 filled with crushed ice with VERY little soda. The burgers were grey and I question seriously if they were actual beef. They had a very strange consistency to them. They almost appeared boiled with no color and were dry. Our daughter and I ended up throwing ours away unable to get them down. My husband ate as much as he could considering the $40 we dropped on this disgusting meal. We ended up making a meal on the greasy half cooked fries. We would have complained to the management but all we saw were teenagers. We will never return. ...

I relocated here (south central PA) about 19 years ago. I was thrilled when I discovered Kristy's Whistle Stop as I had a seasonal charbroil/grill restaurant back in my hometown that I loved. We visit a few times each year during their season. Recently, the first time in close to 20 years, I did receive an order that didn't meet their usual quality. I did direct message the business and they were quick and attentive with their resolution. I took advantage of the anticipated resolution this past Friday, which I thought was receiving that item on the house. Needless to say, my mind was blown when the order was picked up and there was no charge for the ENTIRE order. Thank you to Kristy's Whistle Stop for truly listening and caring about your customers' experiences. Kristy's Whistle Stop truly went above and beyond my expectation. I highly recommend Kristy's Whistle Stop not just for their delicious, well-proportioned quality food (and ice cream!!) but for their outstanding customer...
