I was greatly disappointed by our trip to the Blue Iguana in Eunice. I had been looking forward to their opening for weeks, but waited for a bit for the newness to die down for crowd control purposes. Upon entering the atmosphere lacked any signs of warmth or welcoming. We approached the podium to which the hostess told us we would be seated shortly, then openly asked and discussed with the server how much she had received in tips so far that night (which was $105 in cards, and more in cash by the way). We were then seated by a lady who never said a word, but placed chips and salsa , and two menus on our table before walking away. No one took our drink orders. After about ten minutes, I flagged down another lady, who was not our server, but did take our drink orders. My husband ordered sweet tea , which must’ve been fresh as it was hot and melting the ice quickly, and I ordered a corona rita on the rocks , but received it frozen. Our server arrived to our table , and was very nice, but quite lost. She asked if she could get us anything to drink after we clearly had drinks and had also been seated for at least 15 minutes at this point. She then proceeded to tell us on three different occasions that she wasn’t sure if we were even in her section or not. She took our food orders and put in the order to correct the corona Rita to an on the rocks. Our food was brought out, but I still didn’t have a drink. The server then explained that the bar had made a second frozen drink , and had to make it a third time. I finally received my correct drink 1/3 of the way into my meal. The margarita was mediocre if I’m being generous. My husband and I both ordered the trio fajitas, and honestly they reminded me of the frozen seasoned fajita meats in the bags at Walmart. The flour tortillas I received were brown and lifeless. My husbands were good though. The server did replace my tortillas as well. The salsa was also a let down. It tasted more like spaghetti sauce than salsa for dipping chips. Overall the staff was nice, but could really use some proper training. I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt because I myself was once a server for several years , so I know what it’s like to be on the other side of the table, but there was just SO MANY things going wrong. And there was not that many people dining in on a rainy Sunday night. Hopefully this was just a fluke, and things will improve soon as everyone gains some experience . We will likely not be returning to find out though. The Hacienda down the road has always been excellent, and will...
Read moreOkay. This restaurant is in a town that I thought didn't have a lot going for it. It looked festive so I went tonight and I have not had so much fun in years. First of all, the food and beverages were very good. Rather than trying an entree, I tried several items ala carte. All were excellent. But it apparently was karaoke night (or is it every night here?). When I first walked in, I wondered why they would hire the singer who hit some excellent notes but was untrained and off a tad. LOL. Then I realized it was karaoke. From there, it was all uphill. Everyone cheered for the singers, and there was some incredible talent. Super festive, authentic Mexican style, even the dress of one of the women whom I suspect may co-own the place. No one in the restaurant was judgmental; the patrons were as precious as the staff. Don't go if you're going to spoil the atmosphere. I left wishing I could...
