We’ve eaten here MANY times over the years and I really hate to give a bad review but here goes anyway.....and it’s a long one! They’ve lost many of their longtime Employees which is the first sign of trouble in my opinion. Tonight we walked in the bar side, employees were at the bar chatting with a customer. Meanwhile 3 tables weren’t bussed-cleaned-set, no worries since there were plenty of other tables to choose from 🤔. Not many cars in the lot either🤔🤔 We ordered and when our food arrived had to ask for ketchup, salt, pepper and napkins for our condensating drinks. The gizzards were just okay, not the same as the many times we’ve ordered in the past. On my cheeseburger were remnants of fried potatoes between it and the bun! She took it back and had it remade. 2nd time around was better. The fries tasted like old grease. While eating, someone did finally bus and set the dirty tables but wiped them with a DRY towel. Also - they don’t have salad bar anymore, which was never that great anyway. Sad to say that it’s steadily gone downhill since the change in ownership and if changes aren’t made very soon made soon I’m afraid they won’t be around...
Read moreOver the recent past there has been a change in ownership and a big effort by the owners to make sure they are able to keep the restaurant running while also meeting the expectations of people who have been coming here for decades.
Every time I am here the ownership has made more improvements in response to feedback from customers, they’ve really listened and it has paid off.
Last night I had the cod bites for an appetizer. The breading was light and crispy and the fish was piping hot, absolutely delicious.
I had fried chicken with green beans and the legendary mashed potatoes and brown gravy. It’s still how I always remember it. The entree and sides were both steaming hot and very flavorful.
We got generous portions of sauce and fixins, and I don’t think I was able to finish a fishbowl without being offered another before it was gone.
5/5 Food and service.
If you’ve come here in the past and your expectations weren’t met, I strongly recommend you revisit. The owner works a full shift most days and he’s happy to hear your feedback. Been coming here for 30 years and this is as good as it...
Read moreHated it. Very disappointed, we drove an hour out of our way to eat here. Service sucked, bartender ignored us and the waitress was bickering about whose area it was while we sat there in a nearly empty restaurant for over 15 min... To be fair... The fried chicken was the best batter I've tasted...Everything else was nasty...the beer batter onion rings on the appetizer platter made me sick to my stomach and couldn't stomach the rest of it. There were cheese sticks, mushrooms, corn tidbits, cauliflower, and onion rings...I tried one of each and sent it back, the waitress said we ate too much of it to take off the bill. The manager didn't agree and promptly gave me a refund. The brain sandwich was bland and I didn't like the texture...but I bit into it with a preconceived notion I wasn't going to like it. The waitress was a younger, short, heavy set, red headed girl and got a very bad attitude about the whole ordeal...not coming back next time I'm in Evansville and the last time I will go out my way to try a FoodNetwork...
