If you’re near Birmingham Alabama and looking for some good Jamaican food, you have to try Tasty Jamaica!!! First two plates were oxtails and the last two were curry chicken with peach and pineapple lemonades!!! #chefskiss I will most definitely be going back !!!! #foodie #jamaicanfood #birmingham #placestoeatinbirmingham

I have been here a few times and finally can say this is hands down the best Jamaican Food I’ve ever had. I haven’t been to Jamaica yet but I have been to plenty cities with Jamaican restaurants owned by them. The food is so awesome. I typically get the oxtails or the curry goat and both are top tier. This specific time I got the curry goat with cabbage and green beans. The curry goat was so tender and flavorful. The cabbage was a good blend of soft and crunchy. The green beans are hands down the best I ever had! All the food has a good spice level so understand it may be overbearing if you’re not a spicy head. Another thing is that you know everything is seasoned very well. Be careful because you will bite coriander seeds and thyme stems that proves how well the food is seasoned. The fact they actually use scotch bonnet peppers is what sets the food off. IYKYK!!! I will say it’s a little pricey but it is well worth it and the portions are good. With all that being said, if you want some the best Jamaican food, this is your spot! 5 belly rubs out 5! Perfection!!! Edit: I went back yesterday and it is still the best! They don’t miss!

When I start smiling while I'm eating, whatever it is is delightful. Passed by this place so many times thinking it was a club and somebody should've clubbed me upside my head for passing by this place so many times before. I WILL be back. The owner is very engaging and friendly and the portions are more than enough even for the medium jerk chicken, rice and peas, and mac & cheese I ordered. I will be back soon with friends to share my bliss with.

Ok....let's start with the fact that the restaurant had a sign on the door that it opens at 3:30pm on Saturday....I pulled up about 4:45pm and it wasn't open yet!!! They finally opened around 5pm....okay....but my review will have nothing to do with the "Jamaican Time" that they are on!!! Let's get to the food....I read several reviews that rave about the food...especially the oxtails, cabbage and mac&cheese.....ahhhh hell naw!!!!! They all are just average....not impressed at all. I spent $67 for oxtails, curry goat and a beef patty!!! My hopes and expectations were destroyed by the mediocre taste of the food. The curry goat was probably the best out of everything!! Oxtails (which was most expensive) was by far no where close to the best that I have ever had....they tasted more like American cooked oxtails then the Jamaican flare!!! Anyway...I give this place a 3 out of 5 rating overall. If you are ever in the Atlanta metro area....drop by Scotch Bonnett or Jamaican Biz if you really want some good Jamaican food! Anyway....I won't be going back to Tasty Jamaican....because it's just...

Jerk chicken. Get the jerk chicken! Never had anything bad from the brother! The chicken is cooked long and slow, smoked to perfection. The sauce , smoky, flavorful with that heat that hurts sooo good. The chicken is always moist , not overdone. He takes his time preparing the food and it shows. He used to be in front of platinum, but is in Fairfield now. I don't care if he moved to Texas. He sells oxtails, brown stew, turkey necks, and more! You have to hold his plates with two hands, you can't even eat it all in one sitting! And I'm fat! And I smoke! Treat yourself. And I can't leave without mentioning the strawberry lemonade juice that he hand makes. Fam, trust me, get the juice. His food is a whole mood, and makes you have dates with yourself. Smoke , set up candles, and kick your feet real fast while you eat like an fat kid at the lunch table. Treat your self to this comfort food. This soul food. This art that this man creates. Trust me. I'm fat. Tell him...
