The Bison Turf is a Fargo institution, a classic college town bar and grill with a long and storied history. It's been a popular spot for NDSU students and alumni for decades, and it's easy to see why. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, the food is good and affordable, and the drinks are always flowing.
I've been to The Bison Turf a few times, and I've always had a great time. The staff is friendly and efficient, and the crowd is always up for a good time. The bar is always packed on game days, and it's a great place to watch the Bison play.
The food at The Bison Turf is classic bar fare, but it's done well. The burgers are juicy and flavorful, the fries are crispy and salty, and the wings are some of the best in town. The beer selection is also impressive, with a wide variety of craft and domestic beers on tap.
If you're looking for a fun and affordable place to hang out in Fargo, The Bison Turf is a great option. It's a classic college town bar with a great atmosphere, good food, and cold drinks. Just be sure to wear your NDSU gear, and you're sure to have a good time.

Read moreUnfortunately I had a horrible experience at turf today. A few friends and I were surprised by how we were treated by two servers, Prairie and Jenna (or Jenny). Two members of our group were under 21, and we were unaware that individuals under 21 were not allowed to be here—even if they were not drinking. I mention this because I had previously been to Turf under the age of 21 without issue, so this came as a surprise.
While we completely understand and respect that every bar has its own rules, the way the situation was handled felt unnecessarily harsh. Our friends were accused of trying to "sneak in," which was not the case, especially since there was no bouncer at the door . They were not trying to order alcohol, and we were simply trying to enjoy a meal together.
When I politely asked for clarification on the rules, the response I received was dismissive and rude. One of the servers even told us that individuals under 21 need a guardian present. As adults ourselves, this comment felt condescending and confusing.
We believe every establishment has the right to enforce its policies, but we hope they can be communicated with professionalism and courtesy in the future. Thank you for taking the time to hear...
Read moreI say too honestly, this is a dive, plain and simple, but... But, being the location that it's in, this is a great spot, as it's just down the road from the dome, and practically walking distance, and it's surrounded by the NDSU die hard bison fan neighborhood. If you want to be surrounded by horny bison fans, this is your gig. Before the game, after the game, who doesn't have a ticket to see the stampede? The turf IS your ticket. And - let's not forget the pregame tailgate party; just a little stroll away, you don't want to miss that! After those libations and while wanderin through the crowd of the herd, cheer on the players heading in and jam out to the rhythm of the horny Bison NDSU marching band, raising a stampede on your way down to the turf. There is no better way to show your color and represent your spirit, even if you got no ticket. Or gear...

Hard knocks that drops the pesky opponents to the ground, be loud ma'-man! This is Bison Turf, -on Bison Land, in Bison country, it's...
