5 years ago this restaurant was highly recommended to me by someone who appreciates food as much as I do. The first time I went many years ago I wasn’t that impressed, and I couldn’t understand all the the rave reviews. I don’t remember what I ordered that day, but I do remember what I had for desserts. The chocolate bread pudding was out of this world! The other dessert was the Apple Napoleon which we didn’t like. After many people telling me to try this place again that the food is excellent here I did. The second time I came back I had the butternut squash soup for appetizer which was very good! For dinner I had the scallops with pumpkin risotto which was also very good, but the risotto wasn’t as creamy as it should be. For dessert I had the Nutella fudge parfait which was excellent! But, instead of the fruit I would rather of had 2 layers of the Nutella fudge with the whipped cream in between. Tonight, I came back for the third time after I seen they posted a deconstructed beef Wellington for a special on their Instagram. Tonight’s dinner was the best out of all 3 visits! I had the crimini mushroom and amaretto soup which was EXCELLENT! For dinner I had the deconstructed beef Wellington with parsnip purée and gourmet mushroom duxelle which was OUTSTANDING! I was very impressed with that dish! For dessert I had the pumpkin butterscotch bread pudding which was AMAZING! The bread pudding should always be on the menu everyday as they make one of the best bread puddings I ever had! They should have at least 3 to 4 desserts available. All 3 times only 2 desserts were available and one was always the apple Napoleon which I don’t consider a dessert. They have been active on their Instagram posting their specials for the week which is a good idea. The prices here are very reasonable for the delicious food they serve, and the portions are a nice size too. It’s very small inside so make sure you make a reservation. I highly recommend dining at Harvest in Farmingdale, and make sure you get the bread pudding...
Read moreThis is a cool place. Good food, nice staff. Free parking behind the building. They take cash or credit. There was not a wait on a Sunday afternoon. Now for the good stuff....for appetizer we had the oven roasted chicken wings. They were slightly crispy, juicy and oh so tasty. For an entree I had the zoodles. I was trying to be healthy. They were really good, heavy on the garlic and pesto-vampires beware. The zoodles were nice and firm, similar to al dente pasta. I thought mine had French cut string beans, not asparagus as the menu states---regardless it was really good. My husband had the pork chop. I'm not a huge fan of pork chops, but that chop was da bomb! The pickled onions did it for me, I think they were pickled. Idk, they were purple-ish and tasted pickled. The pork was cooked to perfection. Juicy and slightly pink. It also came with wedged potatoes that were soo good, nice flavor on everything. Portions are as they should be, not over the top. Our waitress was very attentive, quick...
Read moreI wasn't going to post a review because Harvest already has so many good reviews and great word of mouth, but after seeing a negative review I felt compelled to respond. I am also used to a "high level" of dining and have eaten at some of the greatest restaurants on the east coast, but I have to say that Harvest is among one of our all time favorites. It's not just the food that is exceptional, it's the service too. I wish I knew her name, but the one waitress (tattoos and nice eyebrows) has been so personable and friendly that my wife and I really enjoyed just talking with her about all kinds of things. The food: If you get a chance to try the Moroccan lamb shank, don't hesitate. Their scallop dish is as good as any I've had and you MUST try the Harvest Napoleon for dessert! Yes, the restaurant is small, but it's warm and inviting and you will be...
