It's unfortunate that a lovely little place nestled in the woods has such ill-mannered staff. I don't like to write negative reviews, but this needs to be said. Four of us (ages 50-70) had spent the day on the river, and we didn't have reservations, but we stopped by to have a quick drink before heading home. It was not quite 5 PM, and the restaurant was empty but for a few tables. When we approached to be seated, a man stood with his arms crossed at the entrance, rather like an intimidating bouncer, and snarled, "Do you have a reservation?" To which, I replied, "No." Smugly, he eyed us over, and then rudely sneered, "Well, not until 7:30." He didn't say this nicely. He was downright mean about it. The tone of his voice was rude, disdainful, and contentious. Who does that? Especially with a mostly empty restaurant. You'd think he would say something along the lines of, "I'm sorry, but we are all booked up; however, we do have some openings after 7:30." We can deal with being booked up, but senseless rudeness is bad business, so we didn't argue, we just left. We've been there before, several times. The location is lovely, but the food was average, overpriced, and the service was slow. It's the patio that draws people in, but we won't be back on principle. We went up the road to the Trail's End, and the service was stellar. And honestly, you can't tell me that every reservation was for 5 or 5:30 or even 6. We drove by again on our way home, after such a nice experience at Trail's End, and the restaurant wasn't full. There were still empty tables. And if this is the way they continue to do business, they're going to see more and more empty tables. People can deal with average food or slow service because they enjoy the location, but what people won't deal with is rudeness. If you're missing basic customer service skills like kindness, then you won't be around long.

10/10 for aesthetics. My husband and I ate here while on vacation and while, yes, the place is adorable, it is overpriced for food that just wasn't that great. The fries taste just like McDonalds. The stuffed mushrooms weren't the best we had. A little slimy to me. And the cafe latte (which is just burnt black coffee in a mug) my husband ordered was served hot enough to melt the resin on the table. The servers never once smiled to us and seemed to hate the place more than we did. And then as a bonus my husband and I got sick directly after eating here! 0/10 would not recommend

My husband and I had a great experience dining at Forest Nook. Staff was friendly and checked in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. I had the roast beef sandwich and he had the Caesar Salad with mahi -mahi and both entrees were delicious! I ordered the key lime pie to go and to my surprise there was a personal note on the to-go container from our server. I had run the Cook Forest 25k earlier today and she took time to acknowledge that accomplishment. Great customer service and we would definitely come back!

Very cute restaurant. The prices are outrageous for the quality of food. $14.95 for a steak salad that was not much more than lettuce. Granted it comes in a HUGE bowl and it was alot, alot of lettuce. I got about 8 french fries that got lost in the mountain of lettuce. The steak was chipped steak and very gummy, there was so little of it that it too got lost in the mound of lettuce. There was about a tablespoon of melted cheese and about 6 to 8 small diced pieces of tomato. The lettuce was so wet from washing, the ranch dressing couldn't stick to it. The food received by 3 others at our table looked like diner quality food. Again, WAY OVER PRICED!!! Oh and I used the ladies restroom as soon as i got there. There was a tiny tiny bit of watered down soap in the dispenser, not enough for anyone else. I told the waiter it needed filled. The whole time there 5 other ladies used the restroom and not one employee went in to fill the soap. How are the employees washing...

When I first saw the menu I was taken back because,at first the place seems pricey, but after you get your food ,see the size of the portions and the quality of the food,it's actually not priced to bad,I got a cheese steak sub,it was 14$ for a footlong sandwich, with fresh cut fries. I was amazed it was actual real steak, like a ribeye cut steak, with fresh cut onions mushrooms and peppers. I ate the Fry's and brought the rest home,I couldn't eat another bite. It was 40$ for me and my wife both getting subs an appetizer and 2 cokes,I'll definitely be back. It's a patio dining room which is REALLY cool if you ask me,but the coolest was the chipmunk that came running in looking for scraps on the floor. Some people might freak out over something like that but considering your in a patio in the middle of the woods in PA, it's expected, and welcomed from my...
