This review is a part of my quest of visiting all CT breweries. I was biased even before I started this review, because I absolutely loved Transcend beers at many beer festivals they were present and also visited their previous location in Southington once and bought every beer they had available (spoiler: they were awesome). So I pretty much knew what to expect.
The brewery occupies a big chunk of a building. There's plenty of parking space available. Inside, there's a huge hangar-style room and another smaller room with games for the kiddos. There's a full kitchen available. I tried their meat pizza and it was delicious.
As for the beers, I noticed that the brewery shifted their brewing habits. If their taps were full of pastry sours before, those are the minority now. 9 beers were available on tap during my visit, with 4 of them being Double/Triple IPAs. They do not serve beer flights, but almost every beer can be ordered as a full, half or small pour. For this review I tried every beer they had. And I was still impressed. I'm tired of IPAs in craft breweries, but their La Mort Au Nord (Triple IPA) was astonishing. My final vote goes to Ink (Barrel Aged Imperial Stout) though, as it was incredibly thick, rich and complex in taste.
I absolutely recommend visiting this brewery to any craft beer enthusiast. It deserves a dedicated trip here just to enjoy new...
Read moreDO NOT recommend for families with children
Visited this brewery with my kids and extended family members after a live music event close by. On first impression the space was welcoming and had lots of open tables (read: was not incredibly busy on a Sunday afternoon) Ordering food and beer was quick and efficient, both of which were tasty. However, after about an hour, we were confronted by the bartender and told that the kids were being “disruptive”, per a complaint they received. For reference, one child was watching a video on a phone, the second was eating, and the last is 7 months old and only eats and sleeps. Crying was not an issue. I am the first to remove my children from a space if I think it will bother other patrons (we are frequent visitors to local breweries) however, that was not the case in this scenario. Feeling unwelcome, my child’s grandmother took them out of the building - even though their noise was at a lower volume than conversations around us without children. I am appalled at the treatment my young family received at this establishment and cannot recommend it to anyone for that reason. How you treat people with children says a lot about your business, and this left an extraordinarily...
Read moreSo in response to Meghan Talotta, I was there that night. I hate to say it but the screaming from your kid was ear piercing and obnoxious. This continued for quite some time (way more than an hour and was inappropriate and just plain rude) and I’m surprised that you were oblivious to this while the rest of us had to deal with it. The staff had no choice but to ask to you all to leave because a lot of us finally complained. I get the occasional crying but this was a full on series of screaming. Take your kids to chucky cheese and let them cry and scream all they want. This was an adult brewery where no one wanted to hear an unending screaming kid. I commend Transcend for alerting you to the problem which you were...
