Decent food for the area, best attribute is its easy in and easy out when you don't have time but want to sit down and eat rather than on the run.
**Not sure how to reply to the owner's response, so i'll do it here: My review was positive, and not intended to be otherwise--as your response seemingly implied. I frequent Marvin's often, because of the reasons stated in my review. And, on further reflection, I added a star. I'm sure people can differ as to what constitutes the "stars" for purposes of reviews, but I reserve 5-star for the exceptional. And 1 star for "avoid." And on my scale, I think a 2 or 3 star for a buffet restaurant of the Marvin's variety is appropriate. The food is good--as I said, I take my family there--but in my opinion, its not exceptional. If you want Marvin's to be a destination restaurant, make it so. I'll be your biggest supporter. But don't make an affordable buffet and then expect people to compare it to Fogo de Chao. It's not. And my reviews are intended for folks not familiar with the area.
Some things that would improve it, in my opinion: Better meats--other than the fried chicken, i've not had a meat option that is above average. But the chicken is darn good. Salad bar-- **on several occasions, the iceberg lettuce has not been good, including times its been mostly stems and leaves which were beginning to turn color. ** More dressing options--maybe blue cheese **real bacon bits **more veggie options on the salad bar--take a look at Jason's Deli or Ruby Tuesday's options, both of which I would generally rate as 4's (except for select Ruby Tuesday's, which are probably a 1...I used to travel a lot and Ruby Tuesday's was a regular spot of mine...and some of them are definitely "avoids" due to the staff's attention to their salad bar) A drink station--during the week, the staff does a great job of keeping up on drinks. But on the weekends, particularly Sunday's after church, there are seats available, but either too few wait staff or (?). My recommendation would be a drink station (or adding staff on Sunday, a problem I understand is a lot easier...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you go here donāt order anything from the menu, just take the buffet. We had 2 of our party take the buffet and 3 ordered from the menu. We didnāt get any food ordered from the menu for at least an hour. The 2 who ordered the buffet were finished eating before we got any food. Half of the items on the plate were identical to what was on the buffet. The kitchen manager came out and said that they were mostly a buffet and that was their priority in the kitchen. It wasnāt that busy and we only ordered a burger, a club sandwich and a country fried steak ( which was a frozen product and was badly overcooked and salty). Iāve managed restaurants and I was surprised by how arrogant the kitchen manager was. I donāt recommend eating here. Apparently the person who replied to my review is the same arrogant person I spoke with in the restaurant. I never complained about the server or the service. In fact I told the cashier that she was working her tail off and made sure that she received a $17.00 tip on a $50 order. The country fried steak is not hand made or breaded in the restaurant. It is a frozen product that is deep fried. The mashed potatoes are instant. The green beans are canned. The Mac and cheese is a pre-made product that is heated in the oven. I donāt agree with the time they claim. Everyone at our table agreed that the food was too salty. I reiterate that there is no excuse for the food we ordered taking as long as it did. They continue to try and justify it and blame the customer. My friends and I will definitely never eat...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRidiculous. The GM was horrible at customer service! We order 16oz Ribeye Medium Rare. When the steaks arrived it was well done. We alerated the waitress to the issue. She asked if it needed to be put back on the grill and cooked some more. I took this as a teachable moment to give her a lesson on how the steak is to look being medium rare not well done. She runs off to get the GM and when she arrives she states in an ill manner what is the problem. Well for one the steak is over cooked can you recook it? The GM states we can not recook the 16oz steak I will recook a 12 ozs No this is not what we ordered. She walked away then came back to the table and asked does he want it back on the grill? Are you serious right now? It's WELL DONR no need for it to go back on the grill. The issue is it is way over cooked to begin with. Then refuses to recook it. yall need teachable moment on how to cook a steak properly if you are gonna refuse to cook it right the second time around. Customer service needs to be the next teachable moment as well. We will never return to...
