The experience the wifey, hijita, and I had at this beach adjacent establishment compared to the one about a mile north was a big contrast. Although the atmosphere was not as nice as the other place, it was still a very nice setup. It's a block from the beach, so there was still a nice breeze, the patio seating was spacious, comfortable, and most importantly, clean. Service was what we hoped for: efficient and uneventful. Even the live music was much better than the other place. They had a high chair for hijita as well. The food experience was pleasant. In contrast to Slider's up north, the food was a mix of good and serviceable. The wings were big, tasty, and appropriately sauced, the sweet tater fries were fine, the shrimp tacos were good (pricey for only 2), and the pan fried veggies serviceable. The onion rings had a soggy texture and were the only disappointing item. Overall, after a horrible experience at Sliders, the Surf served up decent food, in a clean setting, with good music and service. I don't expect much from a tourist trappy town with chain restaurant style food and themes, and this place has met those expectations. Recommended while in Fernandina Beach.

We discovered the Surf while looking around the area for a wedding venue last summer. We fell in love with the restaurant and the overall vibe, and we dined here and discovered that the food and service is absolutely wonderful!! We decided to have our wedding reception here , and came back several times to stay at the motel while planning and meeting Ellie, the manager , and Chef Chris. Each time we have come, we have been treated like VIPs!! The staff and management area amazing ! They made our beach wedding a dream come true and went WELL above and beyond s over the course of 8 months and the actual wedding weekend !it was an unforgettable experience and I want to thank Ellie, Chef Chris, Ashley (who did an OUTSTANDING job as our server!) and Shay our bartender! PLEASE support this local place and visit them , and book them for your party or event!!! You won’t be sorry!!!

My wife and her son and I came only to eat here. Ava was our server and she did a great job. The food was good and we enjoyed the experience. We were fortunate to speak with Ellie, the manager on duty, and felt she had a good crew with her. All the staff seemed friendly, even the bartender who thanked us for coming. We had the good fortune to be there when the air conditioner was getting service and we could enjoy eating with cooler temperatures as the temperature outside was into the mid-90s. I want to send appreciated kudos to the owners for having ketchup available with NO high fructose corn syrup. Thank you so much! The whole meal for the three of us average came to $30 each. There seemed to be ample parking spots directly in front of the restaurant. I hope more restaurants follow your lead. Until next time!

I recently had lunch here after they renovated the restaurant and hotel, which has been quite awhile, as the place was in dire need of a makeover. It was noon and there were 6-8 other tables occupied and there were 2 servers and 1 bartender there. I ordered the catch-of-the-day which was a Mahi sandwich, 1-side dish (a small Caesar salad) that came with it, and a bowl of crab soup. After waiting 20-minutes and not being served my soup or salad before my entrée, I asked the waitress to please bring my soup or salad out before my meal. 10-minutes later, she brings "EVERYTHING" out at the "same time" and say's she's sorry she forgot to bring out the soup or salad first, because 1 of her tables were driving her crazy. Imagine that, the server tells me the guests at 1 of her tables are driving her "CRAZY", these are her customers!!! I was astounded when I looked at the size of the sandwich and piece of fish, as it wasn't any bigger than a slider sandwich, with the piece of fish being approx. 3 1/2 inches X 3 inches and less-than 1 inch thick, maybe 3-4 ounces of Mahi. So I ate my miniature $15.00 fish sandwich before it got cold, then went on to eat my cold crab soup, then I didn't even eat my salad because I was quite disgusted with the restaurant, the food, and the waitress at this point. I had to ask to have my water glass filled, as well as ask for my check!!! I really got ticked-off when I received the bill, as the waitress charged me an "ADDITIONAL" $2.50 for the small Caesar salad and I never even ate it. Please note: There is nowhere on the menu where it say's it's $2.50 more for a small side Caesar salad and this now brought the price of my mini fish sandwich up to $17.50, what a JOKE". I will "NEVER" return and I will also tell anyone and everyone not to ever go...

Spent the day at The beach, it was 5pm and was in search of the perfect place to round out my relaxing day. FOUND IT!!!! Right when I saw it I knew it would be great. Tons of outdoor seating with availability both for direct sunlight or shade, no annoying umbrellas or wooden benches here. Comfortable and clean tables and chairs. Spaced out nicely. Seated by the friendly hostess and was psyched. Our server Jen was quick to say hi and even showed us a short list of specialty drinks that all sounded delicious and the good size pina colata was fresh & cold with colorful green straws. Yummy. A nice variety of menu options really anyone could find something that they would like. We ordered nachos and was blown away by the size of dish and the presentation was fantastic. The thing I really wanted they actually served and I was floored. A large po boy sandwich with clam strips, lettuce, tomato and a tangy romalaude sauce was perfect. They offered other fillings like oysters too. The sandwich had a fries that were co cool. They are hand cut and almost like a potato chip. We even loved the plates and dishes very original and note worthy. So good!

There was even live music which I read they have 6 nights a week and it was great. Loud enough to enjoy without overwhelming the conversation.

The people that own this restaurant really care about what they do you can tell and Jen really brought it together perfectly. I will definitely be coming back and won’t soon forget this experience....

We had a party of 4 that went in a little after 7pm on a weeknight. We chose to be seated inside due to the heat/humidity. They cleaned off a table for us but it didn't feel clean as napkins were still sticking to the table top and there were dirty napkins on the floor under the table. It took a while for a server to take our drink order but the drinks came out fairly quickly. We placed our order for an appetizer and 4 entrees. Thirty minutes later and still no appetizer; every time our server walked by the table she avoided making eye contact with us. Finally got the appetizer after 45-ish minutes, we asked how much longer for the meals and she told us there was one order ahead of us and it would be 2-3 minutes. We finally got our entrees an hour after we ordered. I had the salmon with rice pilaf and mixed veggies; while the salmon was hot, the veggies were not and the rice had hard/crunchy pieces in it. The 2 people who had fried baskets said none of the food (fish, shrimp and fries) was hot. We definitely felt that our server was avoiding us. When they brought the bill, they had given us 10% off the check, which was a complete insult after waiting an hour for cold food. We ended up getting the bill refunded after speaking to the manager but we will definitely not...
