We’re from SoCal, so we know fantastic Mexican food. You can roll your eyes at our origin, but there isn’t more authentic Mexican food anywhere else in the union.
We were looking to just drive through real fast, thinking this was a food trailer of some sort (or a gas station restaurant), so we were surprised when it was a sit down. We were just going to order some burritos and go. We totally could have done that, decided against it once we looked over the menu. And just the fact that we were already seated. This detour was well worth it.
My husband and I were astounded by the guacamole. We agreed that we wished the chips were just on the side rather than just stuck into the guacamole on top. This was not a problem though because they happily brought more chips out for us. But yes, it was the best guacamole we’ve ever had.
I got the flautas and the verde salsa on it was phenomenal. It had a nice salad on top with avocado and tomato with a generous amount of chihuahua cheese (?). I was enamored with the rice and beans. The beans are a lighter color and I cannot point to where in Mexico it’s from, but I’ve had them served to me in Los Angeles too. And they are delicious.
My husband got the cheese enchiladas and he liked them. I’m not picking his brain too much over his meal just for this review, but he polished his plate and rightfully wouldn’t shut up about the guacamole.
Our toddler got a plain quesadilla and some fries. I stole a few bites of his quesadilla and it was made with white cheese. I think it’s chihuahua cheese? I’ve heard of it and never had it, but it was one of the best quesadillas I’ve tried.
The fries were also delicious. They would be amazing made into some carne asada or carnitas fries with that guacamole. My husband pointed out to me that was a menu option and was heart broken that we hadn’t ordered it.
Anyway! One hundred percent...
Read moreWe drive to southern Utah on occasion to see family, and we always stop in Fillmore to play at the park and stretch our legs. We had stopped at the park when we saw our neighbors from SLC at the park. They had their hands full of food. Come to find out they had just stopped at the taco truck and were raving about the food. Saying how they always make sure to stop here when they make the drive to and from southern Utah. Unfortunately, at the time, we had just ate at the local dairy freeze not far from the taco truck. Which, was sadly, so disgusting. We told our neighbors next time we drive through Fillmore we will stop at the taco truck. Fast forward about three weeks, we are driving from SLC, AND WE STOP AT THE TACO TRUCK!!!! For small town, there was a line, so we patiently waited. We ordered and waited some more. The whole time we waited they were constantly getting phone calls for pick ups from the locals. (That has to tell ya something!) Finally our food was done and we went to the park for our leg stretching and kid playing. The hubby and I dug into our food and just couldn’t stop. We were both so impressed, and vowed, at that very moment that every time we continue to stop in Fillmore we will now stop at the taco truck before we go to the park! It’s too bad we don’t head to southern Utah more often because even as I type this review I’m salivating wishing we were pulling into Fillmore so we can eat here. What a fun little surprise in a small town in Utah. I will always be glad we ran into our neighbors, and they told us about this little gem. Yummmmmy! Seriously, some dang good shrimp and beef tacos, and my hubbies beef burrito - he was in heaven! If you have to make the drive to southern Utah or northern Utah you NEED to stop in Fillmore and partake in this delicious taco truck! You will thank me, just like I will continue to thank my...

Oh yeah there is no free chips and salsa, if you want it you pay for it
We were excited to try this highly recommended local Mexican restaurant, eager to support a mom-and-pop establishment. Unfortunately, our experience was far from what we expected.
When we arrived, the restaurant was empty, yet it took 20 minutes for our server to take our order and another 20 minutes for the food to arrive. The service was lacking; both the waiter and another staff member seemed clueless about managing the tables. We had to flag them down several times for water and other necessities.
The guacamole was the only highlight of our meal. We ordered Carne asada fries and burritos, neither of which were worth the price. The restaurant was also uncomfortably hot and muggy. Despite our request to turn up the AC, it remained warm in the back, though noticeably cooler at the front.
So, would not return to this restaurant. If you do decide to visit, we recommend sitting at the front where...
