We like to stay at the Hyatt that's on airport at PIT when getting in late or leaving early. The hotel is nice. The restaurant: not so much.
Had eaten here on a previous stay, and expected it to be good.
Instead, had two of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in over a decade: a disaster of a breakfast, and an even more disastrous dinner. The problem isn't the waitstaff; our servers couldn't have been nicer.
The problem is the food: it's just awful. At breakfast: the biscuits were hard as rocks. The "over eggs" were overcooked to the point of being rubber. The "ciabatta bread" on the "BLT breakfast sandwich" was bland and stale. The "pork belly" on said BLT was like a piece of leather deep fried in week old fryer grease.
We took a few bites and left most of it uneaten.
But, we being slow learners, thought: well, maybe it was just because we were there for breakfast on July 4, and it was a skeleton crew; an off day. So when we were leaving town, and staying at the airport again, we thought we'd get a bite for dinner. But we were cautious so we just tried a cup of the corn chowder first.
Reader: it was inedible. My husband likes a lot of salt on his food. This was too salty even for him. It had the texture and color of grape nut cereal left in the bowl overnight then reheated, and the flavor of salty cardboard.
The waitress said: you don't like it do you? I didn't even put in on the check because it's terrible. I'll bring you a bowl of the beer cheese soup. It's much better!
Reader: it was not better.
We had also put in an order for a small Caesar salad which advertised house made dressing and croutons.
"House made" in this case must mean "the cheapest brand of generic dressing and croutons sold at Dollar Tree".
We paid our bill, left and...
Read moreThis place has a great vibe and a super convenient location, perfect for grabbing a quick bite or enjoying a relaxed drink. It’s surprisingly spacious, with plenty of room to accommodate a large crowd without feeling cramped, which makes it ideal for groups or casual meetups.
While I didn’t try the food myself, everything I saw coming out of the kitchen looked appetizing and well prepared. I chatted with another guest who had just finished their meal, and they were really happy with both the flavor and the portion size, always a good sign.
The service was friendly and attentive. Drinks were made to order and well done. I had a slightly unusual request of chocolate milk, which initially threw off our server, Lisa. She told me they typically only offer regular milk, but to my surprise (and delight), she went out of her way to make it happen. Big shout out to Lisa for that extra effort!
The atmosphere is lively, definitely on the busier, noisier side, but still comfortable and enjoyable. It has the kind of energy that makes you want to stay a while.
All in all, a solid spot with good service, a nice ambiance, and promising food and drink options. I’d...
Read moreNot sure what was going on tonight (10.27.22) got there around 6:45pm and the hostess was taking a table's order and before seating us and the party of one before us she put in the order, also she had her Bluetooth headphones on so how well was she even listening to her work surroundings? Once we got sat we did get service in less than 5 mins but after our order was put in it's as if we were forgotten and that's when everything went downhill. We asked for a steak cooked medium and got a rare one instead, we had our steak split in half and I ended up asking for mine well done and when it was brought out again it still was bloody. The cooks need to be trained on how to properly cook steaks. The manager who was on the shift was very understanding and took care of us but our server seemed to be having a rough night which is why I think she wasn't as attentive as a server should be and she also forgot my fiance's second drink. So all in all we were expecting exceptional service at this location being that it's in Hyatt but we ended up being disappointed. Proceed...
