We were beyond super disappointed in Talbots tonight. It’s been a long time since we’ve gone there as the prices were extremely high but we decided to give it a try because we’re all for supporting local businesses. It seems that prices have only gone higher with the quality of the food dropping drastically.
To start we got the crab dip. It was imitation crab 101%, without a doubt. It was alright but not real like it claimed. Strike one.
My fiancé got the duck; he said everything was okay but the sliced potatoes tasted like dirty dish water so he didn’t eat them. Okay… Strike two.
I got the salmon and absolutely hated it; there was no flavor to the salmon and it was extremely charred and dry, the pasta that the salmon sat on had an awful sour smell and taste, the garlic green beans were definitely canned but was literally the only thing that tasted relatively okay on my plate and the side salad tasted like dirty/old lettuce. I also got charged a random 50 cents for “extra dressing” on my salmon, but where??? What dressing? If there was dressing, the salmon absorbed it in a desperate attempt to get moisture. Needless to say, I didn’t get to eat. That’s strike three.
Following our plates was my daughter’s dish. She wouldn’t eat anything on her plate, she bit into a chicken tender and immediately didn’t want it. She loves chicken so it was odd that she didn’t want it, my fiancé then tried her chicken and confirmed it tasted… sour? I didn’t try it to find out. We then got charged a dollar, a whole dollar for a small cup of ranch that should have came with her meal as she got chicken tenders and it should have been considered her dipping sauce. Strike four!
Thought strike four was the end? Nooo… We’ll end with strike five- there was already music playing in the dining area; it was loud by itself but to add on was even louder music coming out of the kitchen. Playing ABOVE the dining room tunes was loud, booming, inappropriate music blaring from the kitchen. My fiancé is autistic, anyone with the same disorder will understand how much more overwhelming it may have been. He wanted to leave shortly after sitting down. It was ridiculous, as there was already so much going on. Between our daughter being a kid, 2 completely different genres playing (old country and rap), 2 different levels of music playing (one loud and one extremely loud), people talking suuuper loud to be able to talk above the music annnnd trying to figure out what we wanted… we couldn’t relax, couldn’t hear each other, couldn’t think.
For the amount we paid and the experience we had, we should have went to red lobster. In the end we would have paid less and had better food..
The ONLY positive thing about the whole night was our waitress. She was so kind, helpful and patient. The restaurant should be thanking her, if it wasn’t for her we absolutely would have complained and demanded our meals reimbursed as many others would have and/or will.
All in all, we will not be returning.
EDIT TO ADD: My fiancé ended up getting horrible food poisoning from the duck, and was hospitalized for almost a week. I absolutely do not...
Read moreBuckle up because this is long. I worked in restaurants for years and have never left a bad review of any establishment. In fact, I am beyond disappointed to leave this review, as Talbot’s was our go-to for a nice night out when we were in the area. We love the food. However, after our most recent interaction with them and the abysmal customer service, we will never be back.
We initially called to inquire about holding our wedding rehearsal for 25 people at 1 pm on a Thursday. There was nothing on their website about larger groups, and when my fiancé called, they took his name and number and said that she’d have to call him back, as the manager is the one who takes larger reservations, and she wasn’t there that day. A week and a half goes by with us hearing nothing. When my fiancé called back, he was told they could not accommodate a party that large, as their largest table seats 12. We offered to split the party into multiple separate tables. They said no, as it is a small restaurant (we have been there multiple times—it is on the smaller side, but I’ve been to smaller restaurants that do whatever they can to accommodate a larger group). I called back twice today to attempt to understand the situation and gain clarity on why we could not split up the group into multiple smaller tables. At first I was told it’s a fire hazard when tables are pushed together (at no point did we suggest pushing tables together), then after not getting a real reason as to why they can’t do multiple smaller tables, I asked what would happen if a group that size were to walk in. The response was that if that was what we’d do, then they’d make us a reservation for 12, then put the rest of our group on their waitlist when we arrived. This made no sense to me, and since we still hadn’t talked to the manager after being told she contacted us, I gave my info and asked her to call me.
Amanda (manager) spoke to me so rudely I ended up hanging up on her. She said she never received the initial message my fiancé left with the front desk (I still fail to see how that is our fault and not theirs—she took 0 accountability). I received the same runaround, and I explained that we are frustrated because we still don’t have a clear answer as to why we can’t split the group into multiple different tables and that we feel led on, as we were initially told this could work. AND our rehearsal is now 3 weeks out. She said she doesn’t understand why I’m still confused because she “has already told me 4 times and they won’t do it,” and that they’re room with the most tables only holds 26 (again, our group only has 25, and the restaurant has multiple rooms). Long story short—they just don’t want the business I guess, so I recommend not giving it to them!!! Make the drive another 20 minutes to Bella Cucina in Franklin if you want a nice place in the area, as the food is just as good. And, Bella’s is an EVEN SMALLER space and frequently host...
Read moreSo been waiting a while to come here, had reservations a few weeks ago but the power went out so they closed:(. This time we just showed up on a Wed. We didn't have reservations and was hoping to sneak in to the bar area, sadly it was all full. We jumped on the wait list and explored the outside while waiting. The outdoor yard area is beautiful, equipped with cornhole, Frisbee golf, and firepit. So your wait can be fun and enjoyable. We where told 40 mins it ended up only being 25. We got sat at a high top in the bar (2 of us). The high tops are def not my favorite, the leg space is very small so if you have thicker legs this may not work for you and the light fixture is directly in you line of vision for any convo, being only two of us we where able to scoot all the way over to avoid the light. The bartender was our server and she was kind and attentive. The owner was on-site, which I hear is the case often! Now to the food, we ordered two apps. The pot stickers and the crab cakes. The stickers where huge with ample filling as the Thai curry peanut sauce was good enough to eat like soup. The crab cake was huge and had perfect crunch to the outside, def not alot of filler you could taste the crab..5 stars for both. Moving on to dinner, I got the flank steak lobster sea scallops and risotto. Lobster cooked perfect, scallops could of used a better sear but they where sweet and juicy, the steak was more on the rare then med rare and bleed all over the plate which could turn some people off (it was ok def my least favorite on the plate) next time would prefer a sirloin or other cut. There was three asparagus on top of the steak, they where cooked to an inch beyond there death so we just moved those aside. My friend got.the beef cheek and short rib dish. Beef cheek was like a roast and super tender. The short rib comes in a ravioli, the pasta was good and size great, but was not a fan of the filling. I didn't care for the texture and the cream sauce was bland and could of used more. We got a chocolate cake and peanut butter pie which was really good. Over all the experience was great, atmosphere neat and eclectic, serves great, we will Def be...
