I read about the new opening of the Tavern, so I decided to try it and treat my brother for dinner. Our experience was unpleasant as soon we sat down. The waitress seemed overwhelmed on a slow night, so the bartender was our server. After we get our drinks the bartender goes to take our order be saying, "What do you want?" Talk about rude. As soon as he said that, I knew what we were in for. My brother’s soda had red flakes in the ice and we asked for another and never received it. We had the prime rib dinner and don't get me wrong it was delicious, but not worth getting treated the way we did. I understand my brother may draw attention because of his sleeve tattoos and some folks are not used to that. I was dress professionally but that did not seem to matter. Not sure the reason for the mistreatment. After we finish I pay the check and ponder whether or not to tip this guy for his unsatisfactory service. I tip him the 20% and start walking out. As we are walking out, the bartender turns to us and asks, “How was the prime rib?” We respond, “It was good.” And then he throws out a condescending comment, “I bet you never had it like that before.” Like if we had never had good prime rib before or could not afford it. I've worked in the restaurant industry and I know what it takes to be a good server and hospitable to guests. It is highly unlikely I go...
Read moreFood is good, but I really don't like the fact that they tack in 20% to your bill for tips whether you like it or not. I understand the concept, but it's counterintuitive as I have NEVER received good service here. And to be honest why should anyone expect great service here? Servers know they get a 20% tip no matter what so they really don't care, and it definitely shows! In fact as I'm writing this review we've been waiting 15 minutes just to have someone come over to tab us out! Crazy! We flagged down the manager and try and give him feedback about our experience and he literally says "I can't do this!" And he walks away with the bill! What does that even mean? Did you take care of it? Are we good? Did you comp our bill? I've never seen a manger act this way, I'm so confused!!!... so if we aren't square, reach out to me and I'll gladly come back and pay the tab, but i assume by you taking the bill and walking away we're good??? Just like you said you "can't do this", unfortunately, I have things to do so I can't sit around and wait another 15 minutes to have someone acknowledge us to let us know otherwise... And lastly, we were just trying to provide feedback so you guys can improve. We like the food and we like the atmosphere, but if you're in the food industry you have to be able to take constructive criticism. That's how you grow...
Read moreTonight was the absolute worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant. I wish there were an option for no stars. To be so disrespected by staff Jessica and her bouncer Darren who claimed to be the highest manager we could speak to was more than frustrating. My wife and I brought my parents there from out of town for this disgraceful scene. After being asked how the food was we let our server know we were not happy with the food and Jessica who was helping out gave such attitude and got defensive about everything. We were told that this food was the best they can do and maybe this restaurant wasn't for us. At no point was there an apology, just accusations that we were "beligerant" and they defended their food saying everyone else has loved it. Hard to believe especially since there were 2 other people in the whole place. AFTER the meal, the waitress told us she has the right to refuse service and then yelled back at the cook/bouncer/manager that we weren't going to pay. He came out defending his food and said we shouldn't come back because it's the best he can do. My family has been deeply upset by this circus show tonight and neither one of these two should ever work in the service industry. Entirely out of line! What was supposed to be a celebratory night ended...
