Awful.
We're planning our wedding from out-of-state. Although we had never been to the Continental Country Club, but we knew it was located in a beautiful area with a great view of Mount Elden. They recently renovated the clubhouse. We really liked the rustic aesthetic. We facetimed with the coordinator, who was very friendly and convinced us to have our wedding there. We sent a contract electronically and paid our deposit over the phone to secure our date.
Months later, we were in AZ and emailed to arrange a tour. We received an email from a new employee informing us the coordinator was fired. They had no idea who we were and no record of our contract or deposit, but they assured us they would work everything out. When we got to the venue, we immediately were so disappointed. The outside of the building is rundown and outdated. The restaurant is very nice, as is the view outside. However, the ceremony site is literally feet away from a tenniscourt and restaurant patio, which stays open during our ceremony! Strangers would be watching us get married! The pictures are so deceiving!
After trying to negotiate, we ended up with a $9000 quote and the restaurant would stay open! The indoor reception site shares a floor-to-ceiling wall of windows with the restaurant, so we would have to curtain our space. Not to mention, the ceilings are only 8 feet, and the room is so small! Again, the pics make the space look so nice, but they only show the tabletops. So misleading. The website has so many pics of the restaurant and patio, which lead us to believe that space is part of the rental, but it's not. The actual venue is so awkwardly laid out, and the restaurant is in the middle of everything.
The new coordinators, Dana and Loreah, were nice and tried to accommodate us, but they refused to shut down the restaurant which was part of our original contract. We could not get over the disappointment so we moved our wedding to the Sedona Golf Resort...
Read moreThe food tasted old, overdone. The pretzels were hard and hard most likely because they were also old. The carne tacos pictured here were supposed to be 3... not 2 an 4/10th of a 3rd taco....so u pay a lot for small, old, over cooked portions. Will never order from them again.
To be fair even my friend who isn't a good cook could cook better food, and that's saying a lot. Those that say this is good food, even when it's small, overpriced portions, probably were more concerned on drinking. Other less than favorable reviews go in line with my own : old, tasteless, overdone, small portions, overpriced.
We ordered : Chicken Sonoma - chicken was overdone, burnt, dry ... the carrots had a nasty flavor, sort of like a mix of old and trying to cover it up ... the mashed potatoes were bland and gross ... the beans tasted like they were from a can and heated up
Carne Tacos - the meat was overdone, tasted bad, whoever did the seasoning needs more cooking lessons, only really got 2 tacos they couldn't even be bothered in doing a 3rd (see pic)
Pretzels - $15 comes with 3 ... they were very old and also very hard, we just threw them away, they looked like pretzels you could get from Walmart and for cheaper ... I was more amused that on the container they wrote "pretzals" ... I'm going to call them that from now on ... the cheese it came with was nasty tasting and very clumpy
Doordashed (with DashPass) for $63 minus...
Read moreMy wife and I came here for dinner and the service was good but the food was not. Part of the problem was our fault for not reading the description while ordering the calamari. We saw calamari thinking we would get a big bowl of fried breaded squid not what was basically a salad with only a few pieces of squid in it. My wife ordered a prickly pair margarita with the street tacos and I ordered the 11 oz rib eye. We should have known something wasn’t going to be good when she asked to have one of each of the tacos and was told it’s pre portioned for 2 of the same so I’m assuming that meant it was pre cooked hours ago and just re heated and assembled either way they were bad and her margarita tasted like simple syrup and everclear. When my rib eye arrived it looked like no rib eye I’ve ever made myself or gotten at a restaurant. It was an odd brown color and even though I ordered it medium rare there was no pink or red on it. It tasted like it was sprayed with butter pam coated in salt and thrown on the grill. We usually go to horsemans lodge and get dinner but this place was very close to where we lived so we thought we would try it out. I am more than willing to pay top dollar for a good steak and this one was about $10 cheaper than the 14 oz I usually get. in the future I’ll gladly shell out more money to have a hunk of meat that I can...
