Our waitress was great, especially since we had a party of 14. However, DO NOT call for reservations. We called 5 days ahead of time for a party of 14 for 6pm and they took our name and party info. We called again at 12 pm today (the 9th) to confirm and was told everything was still going forward and confirmed that they had the correct time and how many persons. We get there and was informed by 3-4 hostess that they do not do reservations but they will put down how many people and the time they will be expecting the party. I explained to them more than once that this WAS NOT said to us and we were told yes they accepted reservations. All they kept saying is how they do not do that that they only put us down as expecting and if a table or tables become available around the time they will put them together. My aunt gets to the restaurant and speaks to come other girl that seemed to know a little more and seemed to care about what we were EXTREMELY upset about. She told them she had called today as well and was told everything would be ready and that she was NEVER told about "they don't do reservations". Eventually after the time of us already supposed to have been sat they finally were able to get us tables even though 4 of my children could not sit with us because they didn't plan ahead like a reservation is suppose to been handled. I would HIGHLY recommend going somewhere more professional if you expect or need reservations because having 15-16 yr old girls that don't know the regulations or care about the regulations or care about the customer and how this could have ended terribly for my dad's birthday does earn customers long term. This was the first time I have ever brought my family here and we definitely will not be back after driving for almost 45 min to come eat EXPECTING A RESERVATION then having to wait. The wait would have been great if we could have been somewhere that did not already feel like we was outside midday. This place is in BAD NEED of an AC unit or more fans. Too many people in tight areas with little to know circulation. I should not be inside of a restaurant dripping sweat all down my face and back then eat a hot meal. The upstairs where they eventually brought us was a little cooler however they more people they kept piling upstairs to the bar the worse the circulation and cooling went down. After spending $167 I expected WAY better from the food and of course the first ones you see when you walk in - THE HOSTESSES! I really hope you take all this into...
Read moreBeautiful location. It is on the water. There are docks you can walk out on and take pictures. Was like 100 that say. This is a very good place to do photography. Lots of room and the bathrooms are outside, because the restaurant isn't the biggest. But! The bathrooms are cleaned and well kept when I went in there. The only thing I would say is they are hot because they are outside and maybe clean the random stuff off the roof in there I saw. The restaurant was very nice. The service was very kind! Thank you. The girl that made the dip is who serviced us. The was funny and happy and very informative. We aren't from the area so yeah. She was very welcoming. The food decent. I ordered the boiler and a side salad. My husband got a rare steak. We also ordered to try the crab dip. My husband's steak was perfect! Good job on that! He asked for frys and for some reason got a potato.. He tried to eat it but he said it was over cooked. But he said the steak was good. The crab dip was very good! Would order again this!. We enjoyed that as we waited on our food. Wait was a bit long but it was busy in there, so we could understand. So the appetizer helped with the wait. I ordered a salad.. In which I never got.. so I asked her to take it off.. Beer was a little expensive but must have with the seafood! My boiler was delicious! I could not eat the corn. It was so over cooked I couldn't chew the corn. Try fresh corn! Easier to cook and it is so so 👌🏻 much better then frozen corn. But the shrimp were cooked perfect! Perfect seasoning! The crab was perfect as well. I like the minnie sausage they picked to serve. Was good. They gave me tools 🔧 thanks for my crab! The potato's I had were very good. Everything was good other then the corn and potato and I didn't get my salad... The sides were a let down. I rated this a 3 because this place was wonderful on the service and the food I did have was very good. I can't give it anything lower or higher for now.. other then the mistakes I think that can come back from, this place is awesome to eat out at! Very expensive but it is seafood, but for my experience.. I definitely don't think I should've paid 128$. But this place is great for parties and family! Thank you for the...
Read moreRiver Bottom Grille is a great place to go when you have a little extra money in your pocket and want a higher end experience in the Shoals without regretting it the next day. Its location is simply unbeatable; the river generates the atmosphere at Stanfield's. When seated outdoors, you'll always find yourself comfortable, even as a gentle thunderstorm rolls through Florence. That's because Stanfield's outdoor seating is found on a covered balcony on the second floor (!) of the restaurant. The atmosphere at RBG is simply unbeatable.
As for the food, there is room for improvement. I ordered "fish and chips" and expected the traditional, British recipe. Unfortunately, I found the cornmeal-coated fish, typical of Southern restaurants, and it was unexceptional. The French fries were nothing notable.
For me, the biggest draw to RBG was the shucked oysters. I was disappointed to find that they charged nearly ten dollars for only six petite oysters! Nevertheless, they were delicious. Another appetizer, the crab dip, was probably the best item on the menu.
RBG offers a unique drink menu, including the Bushwhacker, an alcoholic milkshake of sorts. Another signature drink of theirs, the Juice Joint, will not disappoint lovers of fruity beverages.
Overall, River Bottom Grille was a great experience, but it was not an exceptional restaurant. I would definitely go back for drinks and...
