This is actually kind of upsetting I personally love this restaurant and I've eaten there a few times already. I tried using the Yelp app to order the food. I've done that before with no issues. This time was a major issue! The service that they use GrubHub According to yelp basically delivered to the wrong location. When I tried to contact the restaurant that I ordered from they said I have nothing to do with deliveries and then the order left and they're not responsible anymore. It's kind a messed up when you order something from my location yeah they don't take the responsibility for the services that they use. When I called him to try to get some information or try to get my order the person I spoke to basically said that they have nothing to do with it it's not our fault the order left here and you have to pay for it. Customer service by them was completely and totally terrible. No matter how good the food is in a restaurant if the customer service is terrible what good is going there. I am an asked to talk to a supervisor a manager to see if I can get some assistance. He said doesn't matter you place the order it left we're not responsible and you're gonna have to pay for it. I hung up the phone I'm disputing charges, logical formal complaint with Grubhub, lodging a formal complaint with Yelp, and of course giving them a bad review because it was that restaurant that I order from and it was their service that hired the company to do the delivery. If that's an issue with them then they should not go through Yelp and allow them to do the deliveries. Like many other companies and...
Read moreWe visited on a Thursday afternoon in late December 2024. The place was completely packed. You go into the store to order and they bring it out to you. We ordered take out so we waited inside but it was super crowded. We saw a couple groups show up and decide to leave after seeing the crowd. We were told 10-15 mins for our food and it definitely took almost 30. We also noticed no matter how many people showed up the gentleman behind the counter told everyone "10-15 mins". That started to annoy me every time he repeated it because the stream of people was constant and we still hadn't gotten our food. All it took was to set realistic expectation and respect peoples time. We had a appointment we were trying to get to and 15 mins would've been fine. We ended up being 15 mins late and felt really bad.
We ordered: Gator Bites (good; the minimum everyone should try) Gator Caesar Salad (good; not worth price, get something else) Gator Sandwich (kids ate it all so I don't know if it was good) Mahi Sandwich (good; piece of fish was huge) Chicken Tenders (youngest ate them and they looked good) Gator Stir Fry (best; this was the one item I'd probably come back for)
All the food was good. They are a bit pricey but there aren't many other options near by. We were headed from the Keys over to the Ernest Coe Visitor Center in the Everglades National Park. The Gator Stir Fry is the one item I would've probably went out of my way to come back to eat.
If we were in South Florida again we would consider stopping here for sure. If you're passing by and you have 30 mins to spare, you won't be...
Read moreGreat spot to try gator meat after a trip in the Everglades.
After a long day in the Everglades, my family and I were on the search for a place that served gator meat. Surprisingly, the options nearby were scarce, and the ones our tour guides recommended had low ratings. We wanted to find the best, so we ended up driving about an hour to try this place.
My only prior encounter with gator meat was at a state fair (fried gator bites) Here, the specialty was grilled gator tails, and I expected them to be similar. Yet, the grilled version tasted more like chicken breasts, with a hint of earthiness in the aftertaste. My parents found the flavor off-putting, but the restaurant's special sauce—a blend of two mayo —helped mask the somewhat polarizing taste. Served with grilled peppers, onions, jalapeños, yellow rice, and a drizzle of that special sauce, the Gator Grill was reminiscent of a chicken burrito bowl from a local taqueria, which made it more enjoyable.
We also tried the conch fritters and a hot dog, both of which were solid choices. The fried conch was mixed with batter that gave it a mushier texture than expected, and the conch was somewhat lost in the mix.
So, if you’re feeling adventurous after your Everglades tour, take a drive and give this...
