What a quaint little spot on Tierra Verde! I had the soup special which happened to be cream of mushroom (pictured) as an appetizer, while my wife had the french onion soup. The mushroom was a unique take that was delicious, but the french onion was one of the best I've had in the bay area.
For dinner, I had the Canard A L'Orange(pictured) and my wife had the Filet Mignon Beurre Metre D'Hotel(pictured) and we both chose Parsley Potatoes for our side. The potatoes had a great flavor and we're even better when dipped in the sauce that came with the duck! That duck was wonderful and I'd order it again. The filet came with a seasoned butter on top that I had to steal a bit of for my bread, loved it. The steak was tender and yummy. My wife ordered medium-rare. Keep in mind this is a European restaurant, so medium rare can be more on the rare side. We happen to like it that way, but if you don't, you might want to ask for a tempature warmer than you normally do.
We finished things off with a cinnamon cake that was reminiscent of a light coffee cake. It was served with whipped cream and a strawberry on the side. My wife had an espresso with it. We both found the cake to be wonderful and she felt the espresso was well done.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They just celebrated their 5th year in business and the only negative I have is that I wish I had found...
Read moreOne word... WOW. Tracy and I went for dinner and were absolutely blown away. Chef David Weiss, our server Vanessa, and the entire experience was a joy. As a food professional, Tracy and I are in some way overly critical at times but we do know excellent food and EVERYTHING was abosoutely delicious. An explosion of fresh flavor. First, the French Onion Soup. People, let me tell you, the best I have ever had. Tracy had the Tarte Flambee Gratinee, a flat bread with bacon, onion, and swiss cheese. You literally tasted every yummy ingredient. Amazing. Tracy had the Osso Bucco which was about the size of a medium size pork butt. Fall off the bone tender, and loaded with flavor. I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu. Lightly fried with a rich center filling of swiss cheese and ham. The mushroom cream sauce was light and yet still had a rich delicious flavor. Salted Caramel Crepe and Peach Melba Sundae for dessert. A double espresso to round out a dining experience like no other. We can't wait to go back. Do yourself and your taste buds a flavor ( I had to do it. Sorry ), take a trip to France via St. Petersburg Beach and settle in at Alsace for a French dinner you will never forget....
