Cafe Verona is a mixed bag. I want to give the bartender and the waitstaff a 5 for personality. However, this is but a portion of the restaurant experience. I've had 2 meals at the time of this writing. One was a weekly special of Fish N' Chips, the other was a standard Angus hamburger. So...the fish was crispy and clean, but there were 2 pieces on my plate, surrounded by great fries. And, these weren't large pieces either. For the price of the dish - and the fact that I had to reserve this spot a day in advance - not worth it.
Now, to the burger. Medium rare, and it was definitely cooked that way. And...thats the end. Dry, crumbly meat, very dry bun, and everything other than 1 small lettuce leaf and the end of a tomato are extra - at cost. Ok. So, the burger comes with EITHER fries, cole or salad. I ordered cole slaw. The fries are a healthy portion, but the cole slaw is served in a diner-sized cup that you normally get for free anywhere else. And, all for (slightly rounded up) $13.
Now, the service. Again, the waitstaff is always pleasant. But...s.l.o.w. This is not a large establishment, and either they're amazingly understaffed or they're just casually sauntering around. I asked for a drink, it took 10 minutes with table service. Condiments? Same thing. I can't blame the staff, this falls wholly on the management. To top it off, near the front door they have a karaoke setup with 'professional singers' hitting the mic. At 15-20 decibels higher than they need to for a place this size.
So, in closing, I will always tell people to make their own decisions. This is my experience, over multiple visits. I feel that they swing way above their paygrade with the pricing, and don't deliver...
Read moreVeronawalk's community restaurant, also open to the public, offers good food and courteous service. Portions are, on average, on the smaller side with the exception of the pork chop. Prime rib must be ordered in advance, however this doesn't always guarantee you will have it reserved. Most chicken cutlet dishes include one thin cutlet; an additional cutlet may be ordered for a small up charge. The kitchen is sometimes slow in pushing out simple orders. Entertainment is provided on certain evenings with various local music artists performing. Outdoor seating is...
Read moreOutside of getting my meal a little out of order ( The soup came along with dinner, not before). The food was very good and the server was quite pleasant. Verona Cafe is the restaurant within the Verona Walk community. The surrounding area is very nice, located just outside of Marco Island. Looks like a very nice community to live in, I would definitely go back to this quaint and...
