Orlando’s South American Restaurant La Casa Vieja

Casa Vieja, a Puertorican restaurant, is located in South Orange Ave. There's Accessible parking, entrance and bathrooms. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you are back in the island. The music, the food, the people reminded me of home. You have the choice to sit inside or outside. The outside patio has tables and kid friendly games. Their decor and attention to detail, makes this place feel like you are back in Rincon or Boqueron. The food was very good. I would definitely recommend the alcapurrias de jueves or cornbeef, tostones rellenos de churrasco, mofongo, bacalaitos, hamburger, mofongos rellenos, aguacate relleno, and the stuffed chicken with maduros. Food and drinks are reasonably priced for the portions. If you are a local or you are visiting, this place is a must try. Whether you come with family, friends or coworkers, you will most certainly enjoy this hidden gem. Después no digas que no te lo dije. When you go, tell them "Reviews By SB" sent you. Came for the first time, the alcapurias were sold out but my husband had the Counch with Tostones and he said it was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was a little like a sports bar but but everyone was having a nice time. The outside was perfect for big families and children. The spanish music inside made a few people dance by their table. I wish it was Saturday so I can stay a little longer. The owner Mr Melendez has a great eye for decor of Puerto Rican Art and Culture. Some pieces inside remind me of different places I visited in Puerto Rico.. I can tell he wants to share his roots, his culture and family unity. He has a big back patio so that children can play while families enjoy a nightout. All in all, I had a nice time with my husband. Next time I will get here earlier to get the alcapurias. The great part of this restaurant, it's down the road of the Meadow Woods area of Orlando. Best wishes to the Melendez Family. Carmen la Policia : ) PS. The Artwork in the bathrooms is original and definitely a work of art

I recently visited this location on a Friday night, hoping to relive some fond memories, but sadly, my experience fell far short of expectations. While the nostalgic decor was a nice touch, the overall visit was marred by a series of disappointments. Firstly, navigating the parking situation was a nightmare, though I must commend the parking employees for their exceptional service. Once inside, however, it was clear that customer satisfaction was not a priority. The service was painfully slow and inattentive, with an unacceptable wait time of over 25 minutes after being seated to acknolegde our precense by the server. To add to the frustration, our appetizers arrived sporadically, without napkins, silverware, or plates for sharing. The lack of basic amenities was disappointing, as was the quality of the food itself—cold, excessively salty, and greasy. Even the drinks fell short, with lukewarm mojitos that quickly became watered down. The final blow came with the mandatory 20% tip for our party of six, including two children. Despite the hefty bill, the experience was far from satisfactory. I sincerely hope that management takes note of these issues and works to improve the overall dining experience. As someone who wants to see this establishment thrive, it's disheartening to witness such a decline in quality. Let's not tarnish the reputation of PR and our people any further—there's potential for greatness, but it requires urgent attention to detail and customer satisfaction.

Prepare to be transported to Puerto Rico! 🇵🇷 As a Puerto Rican myself, I felt right at home at this restaurant. The ambiance is incredible! There’s music, great decor, and it’s always filled with so many people. The bathroom sink is a cute touch and adds to the Puerto Rican cultura, though I wish there were more than a single male and female stall. The bar serves a range of liquor and beer, but the Medalla lights were my drink of choice on top of a JWBlack. The food took awhile to arrive, which meant they were cooking fresh food and were very busy. I couldn’t believe how good the rice was. My mother used to cook the rice exactly like this when I was a kid, so I had a deep appreciation for my food, that I ordered a side of rice to go for the next day. If you’re looking to come here, be on the lookout for a very crowded gas station with no gas. I believe the outdoor design pays homage to Gasolinas in PR. Would totally return!!

The only good thing here was the server. I think his name was Joel. Great attitude and nice guy. However, we went tonight for Taco Tuesday and the pictures we saw online and at the restaurant in their menu were deceiving. I started with Octupus bowl, and it didnt look like the pictures in the menu either but more like octupus out of a can. The steak tacos (carne) shown in their pictures were actually beef tacos (the main reason I wanted to go there was to have CARNE tacos). We had ordered 3 of each type (pollo, carne and the third), and worst part of tonight, my date had his pressure go through the roof because this food was SO SALTY! I agree, I only took a few bites too because we were so hungry but we had to leave because after a few minutes he was not feeling well. So, in a nutshell, deceiving menu pictures and SUPER SALTY TACOS.
