Tonight was our first visit but will not be our last. I was a little concerned that the average review was less than 4 stars, but decided to try it since the bad reviews seemed mostly like sour grapes. This place is a little neighborhood gem. When we arrived there were crispy noodles, plum sauce, and hot mustard already out on several tables welcoming guests. My wife had the sesame shrimp, and loved it. She must have commented 5 times on how big the shrimp were, and how she could not stop munching the crispy noodles. I had a Tsing Tao and the pork egg foo young dinner, which came with hot and sour soup, egg roll, fried rice, and ice cream for dessert under $20. Everything we had seemed to be "home made" quality rather than the dump and fry frozen crap so many Chinese restaurants now serve. Others commented that this is a family run restaurant, and that seemed to be the case, with parents and kids all present. The "ambiance," if you could call it that, is definitely "old school neighborhood joint," which I consider a high compliment. I hate a corporate franchise feel. I'd rather eat in a place that is modestly unique. If you're looking for a PF Chang, skip this place. (Please.) If you're looking for the kind of place where you can enjoy a relaxing meal, well prepared, check it out. Don't let the average review...
Read moreBeen here a few times. This is a small restaurant with limited atmosphere. The service and food though is very good and better than average. We generally get Pan fried noodles with pork or tofu. Spare ribs are usually meaty and tender. I like Mongolian beef. Good quality beef and a very good sauce with onions. Had shrimp with lobster sauce last night and done perfectly. I order fried rice but get it without peas and carrots and get it with extra onions and pork for a slight up charge. Always a fresh batch! The fried noodles are thick and better than average. I’ve also had the Peking Duck and while not the best I’ve ever had, it’s darn good and I’ve had it a couple of times. Service is good and friendly. She remembers us and what we order. They also have sushi which I’ve tried. It’s ok. Food is reasonably priced. Takeout is maybe a little less reliable. I live within walking distance so my preference is eating in now. Definitely better than other Chinese restaurants locally....
Read moreSeems like everyone has a different opinion on their favorite Chinese restaurant. Chinatown is in a Publix shopping center on Hagen Ranch Rd in Boynton Beach. It’s a relatively small eat in restaurant nice enough but nothing fancy. I ordered General Taos chicken and was immediately impressed when our waitress asked regular or spicy. I ordered spicy and it was mildly spicy but excellently prepared. Chicken was appropriately bite sized, tender, sauce was tasty. The $15.95 dinner special menu includes egg roll, soup, entree and ice cream dessert. My fry has shrimp in lobster sauce and cleaned the plate! My dinner was enough to take home for a second meal. Not sure if there’s an early bird menu but definitely a very good valve for $16! We were lucky to be seated immediately at on of the last tables and surprisingly the restaurant was quiet enough to carry a conversation. Chinatown will be on my...
