We went here for lunch and had a mixed experience. If I ran a business, I think I'd pay attention to how knowledgeable my staff are. The waitress was really pretty clueless, but sweet. She started off by announcing that they have 25 flavors of milkshakes but she didn't know any other than vanilla, after some coaxing she alluded to the probability (not certainty) there may be chocolate and strawberry too.... hmmmm - ok that's ridiculuous. all the Bluebell ice-creams are downstairs in the cooler, why don't you go there and take a picture with your iPhone (which you are obviously really more keen on playing with than tending to customers) and take a picture of the flavors? It's a shame that the lunch which was a really pretty good Florida salad with tasty shrimp or chicken is tainted by a bad waiting experience. She came with the check without asking if we want desert too and played music videos on her phone which was just annoying. Later my wife and I came back and got an ice cream from downstairs (that's where the MILKSHAKES are supposed to be at). So, BEST and probably ONLY MILKSHAKES on CSB, well guess who ran out of MILK??? Yes, the milkshake bar ran out of milk, no milk, no milkshakes. That's pretty bad, Not as if the trading post wasn't just across the street and someone could buy some. On an up note, we decided to get one scoop of ice cream each, those were really big scoops too! Sure you can buy a tub of the ice cream anywhere cheaper but it was a pretty generous helping.
Cone Heads - our waitress had cerebral hyperthermia, maybe stood in the freezer too long - other than that...
Read moreMy family of 6 (myself, my husband, our 4 kids under 6) and our friends (family of 3) ate there for the first time this evening. Horrible experience. 4 tables inside and an entire balcony outside were available. A party of 9 was ahead of us, and they were waiting on the one table that was big enough for them to sit at. We told the hostess that our two families did not have to eat together and we're willing to split up in order to be seated. Although all of those tables were available, we were told that we could not be seated until the party of 9 got seated. Once we finally got seated separately, I ordered a large pizza for my kids but was told that for some reason the pizza was not available. The fried shrimp on my husband's po-boy still had the shell and tail on it. And to top it all off, the waitress added an $8 'service charge' onto our bill, I guess because she assumed that being a young family, we probably would not tip her. OR maybe she realized that the service was horrible. I was a waitress for 3 years in college so I have never and would never stiff a waitress/waiter regardless of their service, but I would be ashamed I had ever given that kind of service to a customer. We have been coming to Port St. Joe on vacation since I was a kid... We still love the area, but will NEVER eat here again and will not recommend it to any of our friends/family who also come down here several...
Read moreThe hostess was terribly rude. We (party of 2 with a baby) and some friends (party of 6) went in together and were told we couldn't be seated until the party of 9 in front of us was seated even though we told her we were willing to sit separately. After several other parties came in behind us we had to literally tell her that we were splitting into a party of 3 and a party of 6 and that there were plenty of tables empty that we could sit at. She still didn't want to sit us until more people came in and she finally told us we could go sit by the windows but that they could not serve us until the party of 9 was seated. We noticed that the party of 9 that was waiting had received drinks from the bar and we were very thirsty so we went to the bar to get a sweet tea. The waitress whispered something in the bartender's ear that seemed to suggest that she was telling him that we were not supposed to be served yet. Also, they only had one high chair (or so they said) so our baby had to sit on the table grabbing everything in reach. In order to prevent our food from ending up on the floor, my husband and I took turns holding the baby and eating. Therefore, my po boy was cold by the time I got to eat. It was not the relaxing experience that I would have expected being on vacation and would not recommend anyone to...
