We went to DQ on a Sunday night. I had company in town. Their Dairy Queen had closed in Tennessee and they wanted ice cream. There was about a 30 minute rush I will give them that. But the way things were going you would think that's never happened before. We waited patiently for our order to be taken. Once it was taken we waited our turn in line. There were 3 of us. We were watching them scurry around like little ants. The counter where they make the ice cream was filled with spilled toppings, melted ice cream, banana peels etc... The containers that held all those items also had drips running down the sides of them. We waited quite some time and we noticed that they were making ice cream and giving it to the people that came in behind us? Yet we remained patient as we watched this. 2 of the 3 ice cream orders finally came up. I had ordered a strawberry shake for some reason there was no whip cream on top. So we stood there not eating our ice cream until the 3rd person got theirs. The polite thing to do. Were still watching them make ice cream for the parties that came in behind us. It was 3 or 4 different parties being served that had come in behind us. Now our our ice cream is beginning to melt. It appeared that the cashier might have been the supervisor as well as she was yelling at the workers. As they were handing out the ice cream they had no idea who got what they would just hold it up and say the name of the ice cream like at an auction and the people would say, that's mine. When the item that the 3rd person in our party ordered came up and they were looking around asking who got the banana split he assumed since we had been waiting so long it was his so he said mine and took it. A lady came up from a table and said no that's mine. Now he was already holding it and he had to hand it to her and apologize. The cashier/ supervisor stop taking orders and came to help. They continued to hold up the ice cream and ask whose it was. And again the people behind us were getting their ice cream. I got the supervisor's attention and I said our ice cream is melting while we're still waiting on his and the people behind us are getting ice cream that came in after us. She turned around and said "I'm making it now!" Then after she yelled at one of the workers go get bananas NOW! She eventually turned around and gave him the most pitiful banana split I think I've ever seen. I ask her do you think I could have some whip cream on my now melted strawberry shake. A young boy came over and through the top of the small opening squirted about a quarter size of whipped cream lol Sure didn't look like the picture. Not one of them had gloves on and the supervisor had just been touching money. Now she is peeling the bananas and placing the peeled banana on the banana splits and touching the cones. I was pretty embarrassed that I even brought them there. I made a special trip across town to take them to that DQ because of Pensacola Bay. But I'll think I'll stick to my DQ on 9 mile road. It's much cleaner and well organized. I'm being generous...
Read moreI called Sunday and placed an order for a blizzard cake for a birthday, yesterday. The guy I talked to sounded nice and was respectful. He told me it would be ready in 48 hours and someone would call me back when it was. 3days later, today, I hadn't received a call so I followed up. The girl I talked to was snappy and rude. She seamed like she had no clue what I was talking about. She put me on hold and I could hear everyone scrambling around trying to find it. They asked me if another cake was mine and I said no. She asked around again and found my cake. Then another girl picked up the phone and asked me again what I was needing. I explained what I was needing and she got snappy with me as well. She talked to me like I was an idiot and like it was my mistake. She said it was ready and I probably didn't get a call back because the cake lady wasn't there yesterday and she must not have known I wanted a call back. What's that all about? I've never had this kind of service from a Dairy Queen before! I will not use this one again! I will drive further next time to a different Dairy Queen or just go to another business...
Read moreThe Dairy Queen location at Scenic Highway in Pensacola has a tremendous view of Escambia Bay from the dining room. It is located in the same building as a gas station in front, so don't expect a private Dairy Queen. Me and my wife went there yesterday for lunch. We ate in the dining room.
Unfortunately, their soft serve is the worst ice cream we've ever tasted. In fact, according to the FDA food cannot even be considered as "ice cream" unless it contains at least 10% of milkfat. Dairy Queen's soft serve contain only 5%, which makes it ice water instead of ice cream. It is awful. The appearance of their soft serve looks like annoying shiny ceramic, and the texture feels slimy on the tongue, woefully lacking any authentic flavor, nothing like the delicious soft serve I remember as a kid in the 1970's. Times have sadly changed.
The service was so so. The woman taking our order wasn't very friendly when we placed our orders. We don't plan to go back. I cannot give this restaurant any more than one star since their soft serve...
