My experience was below average and I wouldn't eat here again. This restaurant is inside the Ponce hotel and shares a parking lot. It has a very small bar with only 3 seats. It was not crowded during dinner time on a Friday night and I was seated quickly. No reservations are needed here. The atmosphere is somehow lively even when it's not busy. It has a dark interior with dim lighting and minimal decor. They have a small menu, but it's got a good variety of choices. Prices are fair. The drink menu didn't have much on it and when I asked for a recommendation the waiter had none so I just ended up getting wine. I ordered chicken arepas for an appetizer, followed by the shrimp cazuela and the tres leches cake for dessert. Honestly most of the menu sounded good and I wanted a recommendation but again, my waiter had none and had abandoned me for a long time. I just picked at random. The arepas were amazing, packed with flavor and great texture. Fun to eat too. But uh, has anyone seen my waiter? Still waiting on that glass of water. The shrimp cazuela was alright, but very heavy and would be nice with water which I had now asked twice for... Waiter? Ah no, you're chatting with another table. Please don't just walk by me aga- there he goes! At this point I just stopped eating and stared at him until I finally got some water. He never even asked if I was enjoying the food... and that's the last I saw of him. A lovely young lady came by when I was done eating and helped me choose a dessert. Her and the tres leches cake that was absolutely perfect are why this is 2 stars and not 1. It's a shame, but in the end I'll remember how disinterested my waiter was long after I've forgotten the taste of the food.

The food was phenomenal. I am a home cook and I much prefer my own cooking than going out to eat but this place was the exception. The food had a lot of flavor without being spicy. I personally like spicy because I eat a lot of authentic Mexican food, so if you’re used to that you still won’t be disappointed because the food just had a lot of flavor. If you want spicy, ask for their salsa picante. It should be orange in color. It’s delicious. I ordered the bandeja paisa. That’s the one with the steak, beans and eggs. I had a jugo de lulo to drink. The drink was delicious as well. It’s like a blended fruit smoothie but not as thick. Citrusy. The side dishes were actually the best. The white rice was anything but bland and they cook the beans in house. No canned beans which is a big deal to my personal taste preference. I could tell right off the bat they were not from a can. Also, they do not skimp on serving size! Our server was very kind and attentive to our large group. If I were to ever visit there, that’s the first place I’m stopping. Also, it is inside of a hotel so don’t let that confuse you.

Fresh and so clean! Great services and have not been disappointed until they’re out of my favorite chicharrones for my Arepas! Fried yucca split to put my fav protein, topped with pickled onions. Oh man or their Ribeye hits the spot! I prefer medium from here, medium rare gets a bit difficult to bite through unless you a beast ready to get down a perfect seasoned grilled meal with their sides of fried plantains or yucca and soft cilantro dip; mouth watering. Their Yucca is so full of life and their salads are unbeatable. It’s hard to stop eating when every bite just hits every happy nerve. Their chicken in their salad is juicy and it’s not a Caesar dressing they have on this salad but it’s so dang close to it. Parmesan bite (not that grated but shredded) *chefs kiss* Ohhh and their real fruit smoothie like juice with milk base! Ask to have it finely smooth unless you don’t mind drinking from the cup. I love my straws not to get stuck with ice lol guava is my favorite!!!! Their shrimp cocktail! Bring the party and get your mind blown, best yet in town!

Went to breakfast and dinner in the same day. The atmosphere was inviting, the people were great and hospitable. The food was out of this world and the prices were great. I'm definitely telling everyone about this place. I need to go back. I wish I lived closer, I'd be there every week. (Second part! A year later!) Only my 2nd time there but this place has easy surpassed my expectations every time. I love it so much. I tell everyone about it and recommend everyone come here on their trips. We got the veggie empanadas, the black bean arepas, the Inca bowl and the Caribe bowl for our entress and omg were they all delicious. The portions were great! For dessert we got the cheese and guava empanadas and the tres leches cake. Unbelievably delicious! I got a mimosa and it was made perfectly not to mention everyone was so nice!

I’ve been coming to De Leon on and off for a couple of years. We used to always order el Paisa and the Caribe bowls, those were such a tasty and inexpensive meal for a the portion. I’d also say their tres leches and mango juice are amazing!! Most recently, we visited this past Saturday and ordered the bandeja paisa and bistec a caballo (ordered this to go and didn’t photograph). My daughter wanted rice and beans with a fried egg which was perfect because the bandeja paisa comes with a fried egg so I just ordered a side of their rice and beans. I’ve never been disappointed by the food or service. The servers are super attentive and the food arrives pretty quickly. If you’re looking for some fairly priced, delicious and authentic food, this is the place for you!

Haha Wow where do I start? I saw this places overwhelming positive reviews on Google and decided to give it a try with my girlfriend. All I can say this place is incredible I have been to Puerto Rico and some of the best Cuban restaurants in Miami and none of them have anything on this places tostones by far the best tostones I have ever had. All the food was incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection. This place must have a secret Michellen star chef in the back or something because wow, my complements to the chef seriously the best food I've had in a very long time and not to mention between me and my girlfreind for a 3 course meal only $45. If you don't come here while in St. Augustine I can say you are missing out for certain.
