Okay so, I have been coming to Puerto Vallarta for years and my family even longer. Every time we have a birthday or go to celebrate something, it’s either here or flanigans depending on what we’re in the mood for. Yamilet is the best server in the world and we love her so much. However, the prices have went up drastically and while we understand that prices normally go up over the years, the prices really have went up. The large margaritas use to be 9.99 a couple years ago and now they’re $15 which I guess would have been okay if that was one of the only things that increased in price since that’s what most people go there for. But even the free nachos and salsa that comes with your food prior to eating is now $6 and there’s no free nachos and salsa which was great to start convo and mingle while you wait for the food. The fish has went up $8-20 dollars more and they are smaller than what they use to be. Me and my husband wouldn’t mind even spending $49 on a fish but when you are paying $49 for a fish that is at $20 value elsewhere it is very unfortunate. The fajitas come with more peppers than meat. The food is cold. The fish tastes really fishy and sometimes like freezer. When we confront the owner he says “that’s fine you can still eat it” or “margaritas are more expensive because people would get drunk.” Lol okay? People will get drunk regardless elsewhere and you’re still selling margaritas? I don’t understand, if you’re so concerned about the safety of others, don’t even sell liquor at your restaurant anymore. He has a very fresh mouth, and a couple of tables even agreed with us and said he has a lot of nerve running a restaurant with very bad hospitality. Our bill was $140 for only three people. We ordered fajitas, shrimp, a fried fish, and two sodas. Never again. For that you go to the keys at a 5 star restaurant or hit up Miami. Plus gratuity (18%) is added for parties 6 or more and there’s only 3 waitresses on it tops. When there’s a great waitress we tip 20% (Both me and my husband use to work at a restaurant during our teen years so we know how that goes) but when the waitress disappears to the back of the kitchen for 15+ minutes I don’t think they are even deserving of 18%. Also there’s no wiggle room for strollers and wheel chairs. They will try to accommodate you to pass and go to your table but you’re bumping into other tables and parties and it’s very...
Read moreOk so, I've been to this restaurant a total of two times. I've always ordered the whole fried fish and it has always been flavorful! Usually everyone I go with, typically order the same thing, being that somehow some way I roll with a lot of Pescatarians (other than my immediate family) Go Figure! I gave this restaurant 3 stars because they gave us the usual chips and fresh salsa. Now the salsa was delicious, very fresh and you can tell homemade. They also gave us a white cheese sauce by request of my eldest daughter, who doesn't like veggies too much. That was delicious as well. BUT...the chips were soooo stale I was shocked that a restaurant would even put those out. You can't have delicious salsa with stale chips. Even my girls didn't want to eat them, and you know, when you put chips in front of children, they dont stand a chance.
I felt bad, because at the table, besides myself and my youngest who ordered the kids meal fried fish and French fries; we were the only ones who enjoyed our meals. My eldest daughter had the kids meal beef taco and it was weird that she didn't eat her taco! We are a taco loving family! She ended up eating my rice and beans and my husbands as well. My husband finally decided to eat her taco ( because he doesn't like food left behind) and he explained that the meat in her taco tasted the same as his meat, bland with no flavor.
I have never eaten anything other than the fried whole fish so I thought my dish was great, so maybe, If you decide to eat here stick to the whole fish!
The prices were decent, not too expensive. With a big family like mine, that's always a plus.
Service was definitely not the best I've had, nothing over the top. Waitress came to take our order, brought our food, checked at the end to see if we needed boxes, No refill on water or even a thought to ask. No follow up to see if we were good or needed anything additional. She brought us the check and that was that.
Cute cozy place and so much potential to be an...
Read moreThis place is small but was packed. Ive had alot of Mexican food in Homestead and Miami. I came here on a Saturday night, had high hopes because it was recommended twice. BUT the food didnt have any authentic flavor. It was bland. The steak and shrimp fajitas were made with cheap steak. The shrimp had the tails on them. I was given 4 shrimp... the fajitas didnt have much flavor. Honestly the fajitas at Casita Tejas' on Krome ave had waaaay more flavor. El Santo Coyote fajitas have way more flavor. The server was nice and i appreciated it being that i am African American and may make some servers feel uncomfortable, there were other black people here. Not that it matters im just describing the atmosphere and my experience. The margarita was so strong yall. If you like em strong, then order a large margarita. I was dissapointed that there was no sangria, but this margarita was mostly liquor yall! Ooh! One drink had me tips-yyyyy. The pulpo ajo was.... different... it had alot of onions, was more like a.... cooked salad type and didnt use the mexican red sauce i like but it was ok... just super fatty. The quesadilla was cheeeeeesy, good! I read a good review about the guac... it was tasteless. Nothing stood out to me so yes i was dissapointed and next time ill go to El...
