We don’t make it out to the Gateway area much, but since we were nearby, we decided to stop into Fine Folk Pizza. I’d heard great things about it, so we gave it a shot. We were immediately greeted by a smiling staff member who asked if we’d been there before. When we told her we hadn’t, she kindly explained how things work: take a seat, they’ll come to you to take your order, and drinks are available in the beverage cooler. I really appreciated this. It seems most restaurants have their own way of doing things—wait to be seated, seat yourself, order at the table, order at the counter, etc.—and there are rarely posted instructions. Invariably, if I’m not told what to do, I end up doing it wrong. So this was a refreshing and pleasant experience.
We ordered the cheesy breadsticks and the Carne pizza. The cheesy breadsticks came with six pieces. The middle two were really flavorful, with a noticeable garlic seasoning, but the flavor seemed to fade on the other four slices. The marinara dipping sauce on the side had decent flavor, but it felt like something was missing. It lacked depth, almost as though it needed more time for the flavors to meld—if that makes sense.
When the pizza arrived, it was clear they don’t skimp on toppings. There was an abundance of meat, as one would expect from a pizza called the “Carne.” The meatballs, sausage, and bacon were all excellent. The slices of ham appeared to be standard deli slices, but everything tasted great together. Personally, I would have preferred a bit more sauce spread closer to the crust, but that’s just my preference. I like a saucy pizza, though I know others don’t. It seems they’ve struck a good middle ground here, so I can’t fault them for that.
The edge crust was light and chewy with a satisfying crunch on the outside—nearly perfect. However, the middle portion of the crust lacked structural integrity, so you couldn’t just grab a slice without some help. It was a “fork-under-the-slice” situation, with the first few bites requiring a fork and knife. This was likely due to the generous amount of meat on top. The pizza sauce had more flavor than the dipping sauce that came with the breadsticks. I’m not sure if it’s a different recipe or if it simply developed better flavor during cooking, but it struck a great balance—not too sweet, not too acidic, and well-seasoned.
One small detail I really appreciated was that each slice was fully cut through. I know that might sound trivial, but we didn’t have to wrestle with cutting the pizza ourselves using a butter knife or one of those pizza-shaped spatulas because the cutter wasn’t pressed down hard enough. It’s a small thing, but it shows they care about the product...

First and foremost, I have to commend the owner, Mike, who was an absolute delight. Mike's dedication to ensuring every customer has an unforgettable experience is truly commendable. He not only made us feel welcome but went out of his way to make our visit extra special.
One of the standout moments of our dining experience was when Mike brought out a ball of fresh pizza dough for the kids at our table to play with and practice making their own mini pizzas. It was a fantastic way to keep them engaged and entertained while we waited for our delicious pizzas to arrive.
Speaking of the pizzas, they were absolutely mouthwatering! The quality of the ingredients and the craftsmanship that goes into each pie is evident in every bite. From classic Margheritas to unique specialty creations, Fine Folk Pizza's menu is a true testament to their commitment to culinary excellence.
Moreover, when we arrived, we had a party of four, and Mike was quick to accommodate us by pulling extra chairs to ensure we all had a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience. It's those little touches that make Fine Folk Pizza stand out from the rest.
The ambiance was cozy and inviting, creating the perfect atmosphere for a family dinner or a night out with friends. The combination of great food, friendly service, and a warm environment makes Fine Folk Pizza a must-visit for anyone seeking a top-notch dining experience.

Read moreMy boyfriend and I came to Fine Folk Pizza a couple of days ago. We were very excited to try this place out but unfortunately we had the worse dining experience of our lives. The pizza tasted terrible, we ate it anyway because we were starving but that was the least of our worries. Our server thought that we only wanted a little bit of mushrooms on our pizza when the final decision from us was to have a normal amount of this topping but I guess she misunderstood and told the kitchen to only put a little bit of mushrooms on the pizza. I was a server for two years, I understand that taking orders can be tricky so that wasn’t the worst of it. The worst part was when one of the guys in the kitchen approached my boyfriend and I. He raised his voice to us and gave us a horrible attitude. He told us that we gave him and the rest of the guys in the kitchen a hard time because they didn’t know how many mushrooms to put on the pizza. He said “You see this pizza? If this is how you like it then this is what you’re supposed to say!” Completely yelling at us. Which makes no sense because 1. We wanted a normal amount of mushrooms and 2. If we did want a few mushrooms there is no way to express to someone that I want the exact amount that he put on the pizza. He was so angry. He completely went off on us. His behavior was atrocious. If he treats guests this way I can only imagine how he treats the staff. Our server never checked on us but two other girls did. These girls were great. They showed genuine concern and empathy when I told them about how uncomfortable this man made me feel. These girls are the only competent employees in the entire restaurant. If you keep an aggressive employee who reprimands customers who are trying to have a nice night at your restaurant, you are going to continue to lose customers. We will...
