My wife and I stopped here in the early afternoon on July 18, 2025 just to check it out on our drive down to Key West from Islamorada. Even though we've been going to Key West every year for the past two decades, I didn't even know it existed until I read an article posted in an online publication I subscribe to called "The Florida Rambler". By the way, that's a great website to check out and subscribe to if you love finding cool, off-the-beaten places to explore all over the entire (very big) State of Florida. There are no road signs to advertise it, and even on Google Maps, it shows up as a Fish Camp and Marina, but the main attraction in my view is the very cool Tiki Bar waterside restaurant. The restaurant and bar has a very cool vibe, and the menu looked worth trying out, but we were on a check-in timeline so we just sat at the bar and had a beer. The bar tender was super friendly and said the place had been open for about 30 years, which made me even more surprised. The adjacent campsite holds about 30 RVs, and they even have a few permanent ones there that they rent out weekly or nightly, but the rates seemed pretty expensive to me compared to most RV sites that aren't in the Florida Keys. They also have lots of dockspace if you want to come here by boat for lunch or need marine fuel. There is also a kayak rental concession here as well. The only thing that might make this place not-so-fun for folks who aren't used to it is the constant noise of fighter jets taking off out of NAS Key West, which is only a mile west of here. They take off at full power and the departure end of Runway 08 there is almost directly west of this place. If you do decide to put this on your agenda during a trip to Key West or the lower Keys, I'd recommend using GPS navigation to get here (on your car display or phone) because there are no signs to direct you how to get here, and the turn off of the Overseas Highway is easy to miss. It's about a 2 mile drive down the access road to get...
Read moreThe sun was shining high over the crystal-clear waters of Geiger Key Marina, as I made my way to this iconic Jimmy Buffett hangout. The air was filled with the sounds of live music, laughter, and the clinking of glasses, as locals and tourists alike gathered to enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of this waterside bar and grill.
The menu at Geiger Key Marina is a celebration of fresh seafood and Caribbean-inspired dishes, with a range of options to satisfy all tastes and preferences. I started with the conch chowder, which was thick and hearty, with tender chunks of conch and a hint of spice. For the main course, I went with the classic fish tacos, which were loaded with juicy fish, fresh salsa, and tangy sauce. The flavors were a perfect combination of sweet, salty, and savory.
The service was outstanding, with friendly and knowledgeable staff who made sure I had everything I needed throughout my meal. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, with a fun and relaxed vibe that's quintessentially Jimmy Buffett.
In addition to the great food and service, Geiger Key Marina also offers an impressive selection of cocktails, including the signature margaritas that are a must-try for any visitor. The live music adds to the overall experience, with talented musicians playing a mix of classic and modern tunes that keep the energy level high.
Overall, Geiger Key Marina is a fantastic spot that offers delicious food, great drinks, and an atmosphere that's both lively and laid-back. It's a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the fun-loving spirit of Key West, and a place that will leave a lasting impression on...
Read moreLet me start with the good, RV park was beautiful, ocean front RV spot with tons of wildlife to see. Friendly neighbors and a nice cabana spot by the water. BUT- area is very cramped to pull into. Parking our fifth wheel involved neighbors moving their vehicles and was very difficult for even my father (who is VERY experienced in backing up with large equipment). The garbage dumpsters are right in front and are filthy and stink like you wouldn't believe! Garbage on the ground around it, and a giant vat caked full of old stinky cooking oil. They do have a spot where you can rent kayaks and paddle boards, but when we went to inquire they advised us against any use that day due to some mild wind? They said it was a day for "more experienced kayakers" when they never asked our experience level in the first place. Wait staff at restaurant was also HORRIBLY rude, tried overcharging for drinks & then snickered behind the bar about us until we left after they were asked to correct the bill. One of them was even shaking her head at us REPEATEDLY. Our waitress even refused to come back to our table, & then three people from management came to confront us at our fifth wheel even after we left the restaurant. The behavior was unwarranted and really put a damper on what was otherwise a very beautiful and enjoyable place. I guess that's the thanks you get from them for booking an extra night because we didn't want to leave! Also saw pest control doing some heavy duty fumigating at around 6am in one of the campers they have available to rent, so you might want to think twice about staying in...
