Even though my group arrived at 8:30, I guess the kitchen was completely ready to pack up, because the food they sent out was not freshly made at all. My mofongo con masas de puerco were so dry that I could barely get through half the plate before giving up.
A friend of mine who ordered the guayaba burger got a disc of beef twice the diameter of the pastelito de guayaba that was holding it, so it was barely able to hold itself together and looked nothing like the picture. The only good thing at the table was the lomito a lo pobre.
Given the other reviews, maybe we just came in at a bad time, but if I ever try coming here again, it will definitely be much sooner in the day. The food offered at the time that we came was definitely not worth the current price.
Service was good. All the waiters & waitresses were very polite and sweet.
Being sat next to the live music, it was too loud to talk, but I understand that many people come here for that atmosphere so it's not something I consider negative. Just keep in mind that you may want to request a table further away from the speakers if you plan on having a lot of conversation...
Read moreI am fairly new to the area and have been to Guayaba in Goulds several times. I absolutely love the food and the friendly atmosphere. I don't know how they do it, but they serve amazing food in a timely manner. Dayana the waitress is amazing. Before knowing Guayaba my friends drove 4 hours from Orlando and I took them elsewhere to eat, we were never served, we waited 1hr 1/2 for our meal and decided to leave and instead try out Guayaba. When we told Dayana the waitress about our horrible experience elsewhere, she quickly brought us bread and appetizers so we could eat while waiting for our meals. My friends were so impressed with Dayana's friendly, prompt service and amazing food, that they decided to come back for dinner at Guayaba. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience. Everything I've had so far is so delicious, the grilled chicken, steak, picadillo, and burger are so good, Your toasted bread is superb. ...
Read moreReally liked that there is an inside/outside. The outside is very pretty and breezy. However, the waitress we had was very short with her responses. We would ask questions about the menu and she would just say I don’t know instead of taking the time to ask and finding out for us. She didn’t bring our full order but we didn’t even want to ask at that point because of her attitude. We can speak Spanish but we would get tongue tied with certain words and she would get frustrated about that and if we would read what the food item was on the menu (only in English btw) she would say to say it to her Spanish because she didn’t understand. The food was OKAY didn’t feel as warm and not all the way cooked. We went for breakfast but willing to go again to try if lunch is a...
