As I was driving home the sky was dark and the clouds were heavy with rain. I was hungry and needed a place to stop and that's when I noticed this little Mexican restaurant off to the side. I wasn't expecting much but I was hungry and wanted to wait out the storm. As I entered the building the staff treated me with kindness. They offered my family and I a table to sit at. They gave us a menu and we began to look over their dishes. We are a connoisseur of Mexican food in this family so you would not know it by looking at us. We first ordered appetizers that consisted of street corn and a creamy jalapeno cheese dip. The dip was quite tasty. When the streetcorn arrived it was on the cob and was hot and steaming. The waitress offered to cut it off the Cobb for us which was something I have never seen. Once done we had a pile of golden niblets mixed with Mexican spices. To say it was delicious is an understatement. I don't think I have the words to describe the bliss I felt as I consumed such a wonderful dish. The rest of the meal was much the same delicious bites of food. I cannot say enough about the soup surprise all of it's ownThe food was exceptionally good, I would recommend everything !!! Especially the La Villa soup. This creamy tomato corn soup was a surprise, it was as delicious as it was delicate. The Chili rellano was as good as I've ever gotten in the Southwest. This restaurant is a little bit of a drive from where we live but we...
Read moreI'm actually very disappointed! After reading such amazing reviews, I thought this would be the perfect place to have lunch after church. I will start by saying, the servers (two young boys) were absolutely amazing and had great customer service!!! The food is very very good! My only complaint was, there was a older lady working as well. The two boys were very busy with other customers, so we asked the lady for some milk. She just kept rolling silverware and basically told us no as she rolled her eyes. 1. I've never experienced a server upset about someone asking for something even when it isn't their table. So when the bill came, we had extra charges that we weren't aware of. So we politely told the server and he quickly said no problem and went to change the recipet. But then the same lady who refused to help us, came over and was telling us why would we think we could get things for free? My friend and I didn't say anything and just waited for the server to coke back. He had fixed are bill so we paid. As we were getting ready to leave the lady just kept rolling her eyes at us and unfortunately she didn't realize that BOTH of us speak Spanish. So we were able to understand what was being said by her. I'm saddened because I truly love to support local business but I can't support one that treats customers rude. I understand we all have a bad day but that was just unacceptable. We won't be returning here. Again I want to say the young boys...
Read moreGreat little spot for really good Mexican food at a good price. I've gone twice in the past month for lunch and both times the food was delicious, and inexpensive.. The place is also clean and has neat decor. Service is prompt and friendly..I was treated as if I was an old friend who had been gone for a while. The 2nd time I went I took pics of my lunch.. view them on this review. Each dish was as tasty as they look in the pics. The fresh made guacamole was fresh and decadent. The fish tacos were filling and the chorizo torta was well made and tasty. The torta had crisp cool veg with that warm chorizo filling.. Yes, they use Cuban bread, but its delicious.. To any 'die hard' Mexican foodies, or anyone who wants to complain that its not 'authentic because its on Cuban bread, relax about the Cuban bread... in reality the traditional Mexican bolillo roll that is used for a torta is made from dough similar to dough used to make a French baguette, so let that spin your head for a bit.. IMO, the Cuban bread is a nice fusion nod to the local demographic of the Tampa Bay area...and its probably easier to get than bolillo rolls.. To sum it up, if you want great Mexican food at a great price with friendly service and a clean place with nice decor, make your way down to La Villa Mexican Grill..make sure you have an empty stomach.. (no, I don't work for them or know anyone personally who does... the food is just...
