I recently visited this Puerto Riccan lechonera with my husband. We were drawn in by the bustling atmosphere and a full parking lot. The food trucks and patio furniture outside were because they were preparing for their 2-year anniversary celebration, which I later found out would feature 3 days of live music and dancing from August 15-17, 2025. Although the long line indicated popularity, the slow service was a bit of a drawback. The roasted meats (chicken and pork) were flavorful, and the sides (fried pork, beans, potato salad, macaroni salad, blood sausage, rice with pigeon peas, and yuca) were all delicious. The food had more flavor than many other similar establishments we've visited. To improve, they could use a few more staff members to speed up service. Despite the wait, the food was fresh and tasty, with meats roasted and cut to order. I'd definitely go back and recommend it to others, especially with the anniversary celebration coming up. With a bit of tweaking, this place could be a top-notch spot for Puerto Rican.
Suggestions for Improvement:
Hire additional staff to speed up service Consider implementing a more efficient ordering system Possibly offer a streamlined menu for lunch breaks or busy customers
Overall Experience:
The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was lively. While the service was slow, the quality of the food made up for it. I'm looking forward to checking out their anniversary celebration and enjoying some live music and dancing. With some adjustments to service, this place could become a favorite among locals and...
Read moreLechonera El Sazón de Mi Viejo never disappoints! The rice with peas was absolutely superb, packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The yuca had a great taste, though a touch more salt would have made it even better. The same goes for the pork—delicious, but just a little more salt would enhance the flavor. The chicken, however, was the star of the meal...perfectly seasoned and incredibly tasty!
The service was excellent. The staff were really attentive and super nice people. I love their service. Overall, a fantastic dining experience that keeps me coming back for more.
UPDATE!!!
"I visited Lechonera El Sazón de Mi Viejo again, this time at their restaurant location, and it was just as fantastic as the first experience! The pork has definitely improved—it’s now perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The rice with peas and the chicken are still just as incredible as before, maintaining that perfect balance of seasoning and taste. The service continues to be excellent, with the staff being attentive and welcoming. This place truly knows how to deliver a consistently great dining experience!" Read moreI drove from South Brevard to eat Lechonera since there is none where I live. I googled for the one near my location as I was driving through Avalon. I know the area since I lived in the Orlando Area a couple of years ago. I was culture shocked when I went in, seeing the "quincallerio" outside transported me to Puerto Rico immediately. Once inside. The lady that took care of us couldn't be nicer. I don't know her name but she has long black hair and tattoos. She even helped my disabled brother with the gum machine. In the interim of ordering food. A person behind the counter asked me if I was such and such from Puerto Rico. I said yes. He ended up being the owner and went to school with me back in the 80s. Such a small world. His name is "Marcelino" friendly and humble like when he was a kid.
Fue una dinamica unica.
Once Outside I purchased a Puerto Rico Jersey for my brother and the guy selling them outside, I believe his name is Jose was such a cool guy. Prices were great. The whole experience was amazing and I will continue to make the 1.5 hour trip to this location.
