The service was bad. A waitress seated us and got us drinks and then we had to wait 15 minutes for the waiter who was assigned to our table to take our order. He was wearing gym shorts along with a company tshirt. The gym shorts were very unprofessional. My wife ordered the 1/2 size chef salad with blue cheese dressing. Nowhere on the menu does it say that there was an extra charge for the dressing. It was a $2.29 charge! A $2.29 charge for a tiny cup of dressing. The waiter didn't tell us that info either. The onion rings had no seasoning and for a $2.29 charge there were only 5 rings (3 of which were very small).
I noticed the same waitress who got us our drinks using her hands to grab lemon wedges out of a container when she should have used tongs or at least worn gloves. Several of the waitresses were picking up the glasses on the rim instead of the base (very unsanitary). Our drinks weren't refilled the entire time we were there. Nobody went over the specials with us and the white board that had the specials listed was in the back of the restaurant and could only be seen by people facing that way.
I couldn't really tell the role of people in the restaurant. There was a guy that was standing around awkwardly who would run the cash register from time to time then seat people and sometimes serve food.
The drink station was a giant eye sore. There were stacks of cups and different things on a bar with a bunch of junk laying around. They could remove the bar and have room for about 3 or 4 more tables. The decor was cheap "kountry" knick knacks that not even Cracker Barrel would sell.
I saved the best for the last. And that was no sarcasm. The only reason we went to this place was because there was an article that had this place listed as one of the top burger joints in central Florida. I ordered the double bacon cheeseburger and it was one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. The meat was angus beef and it had so much flavor. The vegetables were fresh and perky. The bun may have been store bought but it was way better than anything you would find at a fast food place. One of the best parts of the burger was the bacon. It was very smoky and really put the burger over the top.
In conclusion I probably won't go back in light of the bad service and overall poor dining experience. I wouldn't mind ordering another double bacon...
Read moreMy wife and I ate here for the first time after years of telling ourselves we wanted to try it. They weren't very busy for a Sunday morning around 10:45. We waited a couple minutes to be sat when there was no wait and open tables everywhere. Once we had our table it took a few more minutes for our server to arrive at our table and she asked if we were ready to order, we were since we had plenty of time to review the menu. So we ordered our food and drinks and waited. Coffees and waters came out relatively quickly. It was another 10 minutes before our food came out. My wife ordered the Mary's chicken biscuit with no gravy and I ordered the biscuits and gravy breakfast. My meal was good, standard for a diner like this. My wife's meal came without the gravy, as requested, but had cheese on it which she claims the menu stated was an upcharge and she didn't ask for it nor was it presented as an option. It took the waitress nearly 15 minutes to return to our table so we could let her know and send it back. After a couple minutes she gets the plate back and the chicken biscuit looked great. My wife had a weird feeling so she flipped the chicken patty over to discover that the cheese wasn't removed, not completely anyways, and the chicken was cooked again. So the cooks just flipped the chicken over to try to trick us into thinking it was corrected. It took another 10-15 minutes for the server to check on us again and my wife told the server it needed to be removed from the check. I had finished my meal by now and she was disgusted with how we were being served. Mary came by and apologized profusely and offered a dessert for our troubles, which we declined, and reassured us that she had removed the meal from our check. We weren't the only table to get not so great service as a table of two sat near us and they went an entire 30 minute meal with no refills and didn't receive their check, one of them ended up walking up to the counter to pay. We had high hopes to find another great restaurant in our area but I don't believe we will be able to revisit, there are too many other great breakfast diners...
Read moreUpdate: 10/27/23 Had the Daily Breakfast Special. Which was Steak and Eggs. There was nothing wrong with the cut but the steak had no flavor whatsoever. A little salt could have gone a long way. It also was cooked correctly as ordered but it had no sear and was floppy. It would be nice if they actually made the food like they were the ones making it for themselves ya know with some love. The potatoes and grits were fine but whoever is making the biscuits needs a lesson on baking. Hard as a rock, dense, dry and flavorless. Hardtack. Not a Southern Style biscuit at all. Which is very disappointing considering this is a Southern establishment. Most of the food was also lukewarm. The coffee was also super watery for plain black coffee. These are little things but they can add up quick to a bad morning experience. If I’m paying around $24 for a meal by myself the standards and quality control should be a little higher. The server still received over 20% tip because she did her job properly. Star Review has been updated.
Staff was very friendly and were not bothered by me asking a million questions about the menu. With a wide variety of Kountry Classics this place does an amazing job. I asked a random but very friendly server what she thought was the best and she recommended the homemade corn beef hash Benedict with hollandaise sauce. And that’s what caught my attention about this place and made me want to go! It has both home style favorites that you know, skillets (hard to find in Florida), and some foodie additions that push the boundaries. It also has homemade fresh squeezed OJ and you can tell this is local fruit! What a blessing! The food was hot and very flavorful and seasoned well. It didn’t last long enough to make the pictures! She also suggested the Cinnamon Roll pancakes but I’ll have to save that for another time. This restaurant fills that need of a bygone era of nostalgia eating that we so desperately still need. It is these mom and pops that really make up the...
