First off, this review is only a 2 star because of the customer service, not the food. The food is always amazing. I’ve been to this location a handful of times and have never had a issue until today. I felt discriminated against and treated unfairly and there’s no excuse for it. My friend and I planned to have a nice lunch together after stressfully studying for our board exam and instead it was not a pleasant experience. The server didn’t introduce herself so I have no idea her name and asked what we wanted to drink. First off, we were not presented with the drink menu when being seated at the table as normal. I asked if I could have a water for now and asked if there was a drink menu. The response was an attitude and hesitation and she failed to let me even look at the menu before abruptly requiring to see my ID before she would even hand it to me.The tone used and the way she asked was the problem. I am 24 almost 25 years old and I have never been asked to show proof of my age before even looking at a menu. I know I may “look” young and it’s common sense that I would need to show my ID IF I ordered an alcoholic beverage. I was shocked by this policy that I never knew yet haven’t found to truly exist. I went ahead and showed her my ID but was totally turned off from even staying after being discriminated and treated poorly because of someone assuming my age. My friend and I decided against ordering alcoholic beverages due to the way we were treated but instead my friend ordered a coke. The server took over 10 minutes to give my friend her coke. Then, was rushing us to leave by asking if we needed a box in the middle of eating and had an attitude when we said we weren’t sure yet. Read moreAlthough server Chandler was great (keep up your watch collection) — we won’t be returning- our negative experience was not due to the server but due to the restaurant’s lack of overall teamwork- in other words, left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing- requested to sit outside - which they did quickly - with just 2 plates - no silverware- took a little while to get noticed but understandable if host doesn’t mention it to server - we ordered what’s considered simple quick foods - personal pizza and a burger took over 30 minutes- keep in mind was already sitting for 20 - once food arrives and I got up a few times to ask for silverware, again for napkins and again for ketchup, mayo and napkins while trying to have our lunch!!! We got the ketchup mayo not only once but twice, silverware finally showed up- at this point in time I lost my appetite - waited for wife to finish - we though it would be a quick lunch took overall about 90 minutes - the reason for not going back or lacking the desire to - is how no one from the host to management didn’t notice or simply ignored the obvious discontent especially after speaking to manager at the kitchen entrance— so we won’t be going back. Btw - we never got the napkins ;-( adding that after shopping at Costco for about an hour had to go back to Mellow Mushroom due to wife living her Stanley water bottle- only to find the water bottle still on the table - thankful where we sat at - I was shocked to find it on the table however why still on the table was due to table was not cleared / cleaned - our plates / food was still on the table - an hour later get my point - glad our water bottle was still on the table but table not cleared/cleaned just emphasizes my point of how this establishment is being...
Read moreWhile we don’t typically visit chain restaurants, we do enjoy Mellow Mushroom. We had another restaurant in mind but when we saw Mellow we changed our plan. To start there was a 30-40 minute wait but we had some returns to make just across the street so we did that while we waited. However, there were plenty of tables open, most of the restaurant in fact, but we do know that there seems to be a recent shortage of servers so we assume that was the problem so we waited. We had a delightful server who was happy to make food and drink recommendations, thus the liquid marijuana cocktail which was delish! We ordered pretzel bites and the wings that were advertised at the table to get started. The pretzels came but no wings🤨 no worries they should be right out, there was a problem with orders printing in the kitchen so they hadn’t gotten the order for the wings but they were making them right now. We finished the pretzels, still now wings🤦🏻♀️ . Drink refills were good and the server was doing everything she could. Then our sub and calzone showed up, still no wings. While we understand that things happen at this point we don’t really even need the wings, but they’ve already started them so we’ll take them. The sub was half finished when the wings finally arrived. Great! Except they weren’t even hot😠 how can it take so long to get twice baked garlic parm wings and they not be piping hot??? We ate some and took the rest home. We do try to be understanding and we know this isn’t the norm at Mellow Mushroom in general, if this had been our first visit to a Mellow Mushroom, it may have been our last.
