I ordered the short ribs and it was nothing but fat. As I removed the fat and began piling it onto my salad plate, there ended up being a substantial mass of disgusting fat. There were no more than a couple of mouthfuls of actual meat. I mentioned it to the waiter and he said he would speak to the chef. A few minutes later, he brought the check for the full amount and said nothing. We basically paid $46 for a plateful of fat. Aside from the intolerable meal, the service was unprofessional, inexperienced and slow. We had a reservation, but they seated us at a table in the direct sun. When I expressed my concern, they lowered a windowed “rain curtain” which had a 12-inch canvas border around it. They used the bottom of the border to shield the sun. It had to be lowered ever so slightly so that the canvas border lined up with the sun glaring on the dining guest. As the sun began to set, we asked a passing waiter to lower it again. He said he can't keep coming back every five minutes to lower the curtain! Perhaps they should invest in a shade that actually blocks the sun, or at least inform the customer they will be in direct sun throughout their meal. The person at the table behind us was experiencing the same problem. He finally got up to lower the curtain himself. After we ordered drinks we waited quite a while for our order to be taken. Once we ordered our meal, there was another long wait. With the hot sun beating on us, we were anxious to be served. The table ahead of us told their waiter they never received their salad. A couple of minutes later, their entree was served and they requested their salad be canceled. Just then, their salad appeared, which they declined. I assume there are some menu items that are good, but the beef short ribs is not one of them. If they can’t get it right, then take if off the menu. Unprofessional service, unacceptable meals and uncomfortable seating will probably not sustain this restaurant. We live in the Naples area and there are hundreds of excellent restaurants with quality food and service, and we will continue to...
Read moreVisited on Easter for dinner. We had a reservation for 6 through OpenTable. The restaurant didn’t have any record of it despite us having emailed confirmation. The hostess gave us a hard time about being seated until her manager came out and told her to seat us. Service was off putting and rude. Drinks were slow to come out. The food was mediocre. We tried several things. Margarita Pizza: greasy and average at best. Meatballs: hard as a rock and way over cooked. Beef Short Rib: the server tried to talk me out of ordering this I don’t know why, the short rib was pretty good, tender, the gnocchi not so much, it was watery and was made with too much potato so it had a bad consistency. Mista salad: was all lettuce, literally had 2 small roasted red peppers and a tiny block of cheese . The bone in rib-eye: tried to order this medium well, the server did not like that, tried to first convince us to order the osso bucco, but that’s not what we wanted so he then convinced us to get it medium and it came out purple on the inside, definitely medium rare and had to send it back. Frutti Di Mare: pretty good, seafood was a bit overcooked. Lasagna: pretty good. Cacio e pepe: pretty good. It is extremely overpriced for the quality of food. For “homemade from scratch” Italian food it was all pretty average and we are an Italian family. It was actually insultingly bad. The lack of competent, courteous and welcoming service on a holiday was enough though to make me never come back. I am sure this restaurant is still in business due to the lack of food options in the area. A lesson reinforced today: just because it’s “homemade” or “made from scratch” doesn’t mean it’s any good, or worth the price for...
Read moreDo not attempt to eat here! We were a group of 12 people looking for a place to eat lunch. We called the restaurant and there was no answer. Five minutes later, we received a call back (we had not left a message) and we asked if they could seat a group of 12. They said yes so we headed that way. As soon as we got there, we were rudely greeted by a male waiter who told us to wait by the door and not to go inside the restaurant. Mind you, this is supposed to be a fine dining restaurant with prices to reflect this. We waited for the rest of our party to get out of their cars and got seated outside. From the moment we started asking usual questions (example - if they had kid offerings/menu), the waiter was rude. He said that they only served what was on the menu. No other options. We asked about a sauce similar to Alfredo, same rude response. We also asked about splitting the check and once again he rudely answered "no". We decided not to spend our money there. We got up and left. As we were leaving, the waiter said that he did not work for free and that we needed to pay for the tap water. What? That's crazy. When my husband said that we were not paying for tap water, the waiter said a few choice words to him. Bad words! There were kids present. How can a fine dining restaurant have staff that swears to customers? We will never go back. It was an awful experience and we didn't even get to order to review the food. This waiter should not be working at a fine dining restaurant. We ate at Mangoe's Dockside Bistro and had a wonderful meal. You are better off going to a casual restaurant with exceptional service than trying to spend twice the amount for rudeness and...
