This was our first visit to Marco Island. We used Marco Review app to find some fun places to visit. We went to Capri Fish House because of their advertised specials. They advertised ALL DAY HAPPY HOUR during the month of June (typically very slow for Marco Island). Upon arrival we shared the Happy Hour and $29.95 dinner for two specials AS ADVERTISED with the bartender. Initially the outside bartender informed us that Happy Hour was only at the inside bar (contrary to advertisement). So we went inside where the bartender was very personable and eager to please. However, she had no idea about their advertised specials. Everything we saw advertised on the app she had to confirm with the owner and they begrudgingly approved (as advertised). As a customer I felt as if I was begging to receive what enticed me to patronize this establishment. The food was EXCELLENT; however, this customer ordered the Land & Sea. Initially when I inquired as to what was included in the Land & Sea, the bartender said ‘meat and seafood’. USUALLY land & sea consists of filet mignon and lobster tail. When I asked if that was on the menu she laughed and said “not for $29.99 for 2”. That is reasonable BUT it is also reasonable to KNOW what IS included prior to ordering. After asking numerous times, they eventually produced a menu which showed that the land & sea was salmon and steak tips. When my order came it was incredible! A whole salmon steak with incredible veggies of broccoli, carrots, summer squash, and a potato puff. I asked about the steak tips that were missing and the bartender immediately went to the chef. She came back and informed me that the LAND & SEA was ACTUALLY a land OR sea. In that case I should have been asked WHICH I preferred. Due to their error they did bring me an entire meal of steak tips with the pasta and veggies - which was WAY more than I wanted as a land & sea meal would have included a few (5 or 6 steak tips) with my meal. They went above and beyond to satisfy me but the entire situation was awkward to keep showing the staff the menus and asking them to do what was advertised. It made the amazing food DULL due to the awkwardness of being a customer that had to beg to receive what enticed them to visit. It is a great place but it is a more enjoyable experience to come in and be treated as a customer that is coming in due to the advertised enticements instead of arguing and begging to receive what brought you to the establishment. A little more customer focus would make this...
Read moreCapri Fish House, located near Marco Island in the Isles of Capri, Florida, is known for its delightful seafood offerings and unique dining experience. The restaurant is appreciated for its "Old Florida" charm, offering a nostalgic and relaxing atmosphere. It's a place where guests can enjoy meals right on the beach, with their toes in the sand, or choose to sit in the Tiki hut, accompanied by guitar music and stunning views. For those looking for activities, the restaurant also provides opportunities to rent kayaks and explore the surrounding waterways.
The menu at Capri Fish House includes a wide variety of seafood, with grouper fingers and seafood chowder being particularly praised. The restaurant is also family-friendly, allowing pets on a leash, and it's accessible by boat, enhancing its appeal as a unique dining destination. They serve lunch and dinner, with early bird specials available. On Sundays, they offer a breakfast brunch with a variety of options, followed by a lunch buffet. The ambiance is very casual, with a slower-paced service that reflects the laid-back culture of the place.
In addition to its food, the Capri Fish House is notable for its waterfront bliss. The Tiki hut is actually over the water, providing an incredible setting and a front-row seat to picturesque sunsets. The lunch and dinner menus cater to a range of tastes, including options for those who prefer non-seafood items. The bar menu features a selection of wines and other beverages. That said, our most recent visit was a letdown. The service was inattentive at best—long waits, little acknowledgment, and a sense that the staff was overwhelmed or indifferent. Worse, the food felt overpriced for what it was. While it’s never been fine dining, this time it was hard to justify the cost, especially considering the bland flavors and uninspired presentation.
And while we were trying to make the best of it, the bugs had other plans. We ended up being absolutely eaten alive—so at least someone got a decent meal.
It’s disappointing to see a place that once had so much charm fall short of expectations. Capri Fish House still has a great location and the potential to be something special, but they’ll need to refocus on service, pricing, and food quality to remain...
Read moreWe went there, and this time was our second time/attempt. The first time the place was supper busy, without parking spots available, and we went to another place. The second came the real disappointment, I was able quickly ti find a really nice parking spot, right at the front of the restaurant, and not only one, but two, because my daughter and her boyfriend were fallowing us with her car, anyway, so far so good. Excited we headed towards the main entrance where we saw some hostess stand, with few not so happy people that were there before us, and apparently they were still waiting for someone to notice them in a first place, that was immediately the first red flag for us. After a while on the line behind those people at the front of us, again not so happy faces, we I realized that it’s going to take a long long time until someone make the effort to notice us, actually the two very big group of people, given that my daughter quickly went inside the cabana, or whatever is called, and told us that there is plenty of available tables/empty tables, so I guess the place wasn’t that crazy busy this time, like it was the very first time that we attempted to visit, and also the fact that we were able to find two really nice parking spots, right at the front of the place. We noticed bunch of employees walking in and out, who stared at us with discontent as if we already owed them something, let alone goodwill, far from the truth!
We were standing next to the other family before us, but since we were already quite hungry we decided to leave as quickly as possible and move to a better place which is definitely Snook Inn, a short drive from them, recently renovated, very friendly, with unbelievable atmosphere, and huge portions, and free salad bar! This was my second attempt, because the place looked kind of cute, and we wanted to check it out, but definitely was our last one, not going there and wasting my time anymore, I don’t belong in places where we are not warmly welcomed, and appreciated, very bad second attempt, and experience in general. The reason I’m giving the food 4 ⭐️ is just because it looks good on the pictures, other than that would be between 1 to 3 ⭐️, and yes I wouldn’t recommend this place, especially if you’re hungry and don’t have time for unfriendly environment...
