I arrived at fuzzies at 9:30 PM, they close at 10 PM. The bartender Lindsay said that it was still a full menu. I ordered an appetizer I worked in the restaurant industry when I was younger, so I understand when it gets close to closing time so I made it easy on them. The appetizer is fish bites. Their menu charges $18 for these grouper bites. That is the amount of bites I have as you can see there is one in the picture. I took a small bite out of but that’s what they gave me for $18. Very sad I live on eighth Avenue which I can walk to this restaurant because I’m a local and this is how they treat a local. This is the saddest amount of fish bites I ever had in an appetizer for $18. I get more in an appetizer if I go to the lighthouse bar and Grill on my way to Sanibel. This is just sad for a restaurant on this island. There’s not much to do on Pine Island there’s not many restaurants on Pine Island. You think they would cater a little bit better on the amount of this appetizer. These are the grouper fish bites, my friends. This is sad. Very very sad. Amount of fish bites for $18. This is why I leave the island usually when I wanna eat something cause every restaurant on this island shows that the owners are very greedy and don’t wanna give you the amount of food that should be on a plate for what you’re paying for. I usually get the king crab legs. I stopped going there for the king crab legs because I’ve been eating king crab legs for years at restaurants and they rip you off with the weight. This is absolutely sad. I hope this gets to somebody higher up at Fuzzy’s Boat Shack and they correct this issue. I can leave the Island pay the same amount of money and have better quantity and quality. This is the reason I stopped going to fuzzy’s as a local because it is crap. When I leave the island and go to Cape Coral or Fort Myers it’s more consistent. What they give during snowbird season they give during non-snow bird season to the locals. This place I do not recommend that you waste your money on food at this place. Now if I deserve this for $18 cause they were closing in a half hour I even asked the bartender if it was too late to order food I was trying to be kind, considerate, and all that to the kitchen, but this is the crap I got. This is the grouper bites an appetizer for $18. This island is so greedy in their restaurants for the prices they charge for food and trust me, my friends these are just cooks no chefs. And this is the crap they give you for a high dollar price. Don’t go here stay off Pine Island go eat somewhere else eat Cape Coral eat Fort Myers eat Sanibel do not waste your money on food in Pine Island in Saint James city. All they had to do was be honest and tell me for $18. You’re only gonna get a very small amount. You’re better off at Tarpon Lodge located in Bokeelia the north side of the center on...
Read moreLife and restaurants are all relative to what, where, who, why, when, how and how much. Some may question a 5 star rating on a restaurant and bar on a deep water canal, with covered outdoor seating on the water, or indoors in a highly decorated interior that smacks you when you walk in with, "Get comfortable guys, and stay a while" attitude. It's in a small town, St. James City, on a sliver of land called Pine Island, which is just west off the straight between the eastward sliver of island called Fort Meyers Beach. But it's a very long Island by Gulf Coast of Florida standards, and Woody's is just a few miles from it's southern tip. It's located just as you approach a fork in the road that predominantly takes you into residential and church properties. Woody's is owned by the same folks that own the OFF THE CHARTS INN literally across the street on the point of the fork in the road, next to a realty office, which Hotel surrounds another canal with open access to the straights and the Gulf. It's obvious that they take what they do very seriously, and their facility if immaculate. They are nice people to begin with and their employees are the same.
It's a menu of simplicity but items of high demand delivered REALLY FRESH made, and well plated. For the prices they charge, I've paid more for the bread basket in other waterfront restaurants. It may look like your typical small town waterfront place, but it's 100% better than it's competitors. My locally sourced Dorado, Mahi on the menu name, was perfectly blackened and the portion was just as advertised, no cheating here on portion size. I think it was $14 for the platter, not a sandwich. We had drafts which were freezing cold as they should be and a neighboring table about 18 feet away had margaritas that they thoroughly enjoyed. Again, drinks were about half of other waterfront places.
So, value, location, ownership, staff, instantaneous service, quality of ingredients, taste, quantity, the attitude toward customers, comfort: yeah, when the points add up to a winner, on all counts, that's a A+ on any judges card so 5 out of 5 stars. They are not competing here with the pretentious Five star restaurants in Tampa or Miami, not that kind of business on St. James City, and we would judge that on the same general qualifications but different because of what those places in those cities are Trying to be. Woody's succeeds at being what it's supposed to be for the customers of this small,...
Read moreMy boyfriend & my 3 bonus babies, his children & my brother, his fiance and their 5 children plus my other brother lol all decided to drive down for Spring Break with our kids from Michigan. We came here instead of the original place we had found on GPS. Clearly something drew us here instead and that would had been the live music sign! I can't say much of the other bars/restaurants around for music because they didn't have a sign as big to see if they did. As for the food it's really good! As someone in the industry for 29 yrs,a server (10yrs) turned bartender (19yrs) I can judge my service respectfully, Jacob is a little slow & scatterbrained in my opinion but I want to compliment him on his kindness and always smiling and happy to fulfill the thing he may had forgot a couple times. I dont hate, as we all started somewhere but if he's been in the industry longer than a year or so he should be a lot better or on his toes by now. If he's newer then absolutely it's forgiven. Don't know either way. But all the staff him included have been very nice. Love the ability to walk down the canal. This is all of the kids 1rst Florida visit and we loved finding this gem! Thanks guys, I do suggest and will be...
