Shady Oak Restaurant — Restaurant in Florida

My boyfriend and I went there on a Sunday. The place was jam packed so we sat ourselves at a dirty table knowing, we would have to wait awhile before someone came to us. After waiting 20 minutes, with absolutely no one coming by we left and we went elsewhere. The food there is great so we decided to try it again this week on Thursday for lunch. The place was not busy at all, maybe 7 tables sat. We sat outside and decided this time we will be patient being that it was a beautiful day out. A server was in an out attending to other tables but never once batted an eye our way. After 24 minutes (we were timing this time) someone finally came by “what are y’all drinking” no “hello” or “sorry for the wait guys”... just unkind. So we ordered our drinks and she brought our menus, asked if we needed a minute, I said literally a minute or two because I knew what I wanted I just wanted to glance at the sides. After another 33 minutes, we decided to just leave. Such a shame because the food is excellent but service is absolutely awful. It mostly reflects on management though because if there’s only 3 servers on the floor that obviously cannot handle running the floor themselves, they should hire more servers and put more...

First time we went after reopening was great. Gator tail was awesome, crab cake platter was great along with the crab cake sandwich! We got our food fairly quickly quick was nice. Not very many people dining in so it was expected. The atmosphere is great if you’re into that sort of thing. We decided to go back again a week later and everything was awful. The service was lack luster, we waited almost an hour to get gator tail which was over cooked and gross, the waiters had giving us a warning about the overcooked gator and asked if we wanted them to remake it but after waiting for some time already we just suffered through it. We thought it was a fluke so we tried again a week later and the gator tail was perfect other then the size which was significantly smaller the the other times which was disappointing. Anyways, place has potential if they can get it together! Trying again because we love the atmosphere and dining outside right next to the river is appealing to me and my family! Staff very friendly! Came for lunch, food was ok. Buffalo chicken sandwich was decent fries were very clearly old and cold. Burger same, decent but old cold fries. Two stars are only earned for the fairly decent sandwiches though. Service was terrible. Server could not be found for most of our visit. Took forever just to give them our drink order at which time we told them we were ready to order food too. Server took thedrink order and ran off ignoring our request to place the food order too. A different girl brought out our drinks and we again asked her if we could place our food order and she informed us we would have give that to our server and so again we waited. When the server finally did come to take our order she was rude, short with us, and snappy. Clearly in a bad mood and had zero customer service skills to speak of. I'm sure a place like this survives on its regular local clientele but if you're not one of them don't bother. There's a much nicer stop just on the other side of the bridge.
