Excellent experience the people were very friendly and the food was very good.
We just moved to Venice FL from North Carolina this past month for good we sold our house and are permanent Venice residents. Probably 5 people have recommended we go to Snook haven in this first month being here so we went on a Saturday at around 2 pm
We loved the dirt road in...I grew up on a dirt road in North Carolina and it reminded me of my youth riding in on that dirt road into the woods back to the river !! I loved that and all those trees with the moss hanging over the road is beautiful. The place is right on the myakka river.
Once inside we were given a warm welcome by all the server's inside. 2 or 3 ladies told us we could sit where ever we like and started making recommendations for lunch. They gave us a copy of the live music schedule for this month. Then they brought out our food pretty quick we got Arnold palmer's and the tea was sweet !! Which is nice !! And we got an appetizer nachos with pork and it was out in about 10 mins and it was good great portions and homemade chips !!
They smoke their own meat and make the BBQ sauces also. It's all homemade! The Carolina bbq is my favorite!!
The food was really good and my wife got a big salad with salmon and feta cheese and it was fr sh and it wasn't just iceberg lettuce it was a spring mix and it was fresh !! It was a big salad too I had to eat half of it.
I got the brisket sandwich and collard greens and they make their own collards they weren't from a can !! I was very impressed.
This place made me feel like I was back home in a small country town in beautiful North Carolina at a family owned diner. It has a small town feel and they will make you welcome and feed you good.
People that write bad reviews about a good old fashioned place like Snook haven with all the atmosphere and time and effort put into the whole process, if you can't appreciate a dirt road and home made bbq sauce you don't need to go here! Make a reservation at...
Read moreLet me start by saying today was our first visit to this beautiful place on the Myakka River. We just relocated to Venice from Polk county. While our house was being built we would pass the road going to the restaurant and wondered what the river tour was about. My call to Diane was very informative making the reservations and was explained the details of the river tour. She also told us the banjo band plays on Thursdays. Our mom who is 80 and us two arrived and were greeted with smiles from Diane. We entered the boat and were treated like royalty by the captain and his mate. My mom noted Diane even helped getting the boat off safely and gave us an old fashioned wave. The mate giving us the play by play was so easy spoken informative and everyone was in surprise every turn on the river. We learned a lot. . When we returned after the awesome tour we had lunch and noted the awesome staff was all working hard to make our day memorable. The boat tour the food the staff were all great and deserve a pat on the back for a job well done. I will finish with the cost of the boat trip was worth every penny to see this wonderful part of our state where we live! I live 1/4 mile down the road and will be returning on a regular basis. Keep up the good work Snook Haven!...
Read moreWhat a peaceful, yet vibing and busy place to get a meal, take in Florida’s beautiful weather and listen some music… all at the same time. I gave this place 3 stars, but wanted to give 5, however the potato salad on my platter was inedible ( not cooked and covered in dressing) and I had to throw it out. My two meats bbq which consisted of pulled chicken and pork were smoky and delicious, with a side of potato chips and the perfect ice tea. It’s kinda weird though, you order on one side, then you get a pager to get the food, which you wave up in the air when it starts to buzz so the server knows where you’re sitting, then you have to take your food and go to another side of the building to get your bbq sauce and forks and napkins… that part was annoying. Also trash can are to the side of the building, so you have to walk a little to throw your stuff away. Your bill consists of a gratuity. I thought it was pricey… my bill was $29…. I could have gotten better food elsewhere…. But I guess I was paying for the view and music. Then, as usual I couldn’t eat all of my food, so had to join the line to get a to-go box…. Parking is horrible, I guess you park where you want. It’s a little walk to the restaurant. I will go back for the view and music,...
