Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Florida

One of my favorite things about Sonic drive thrus is that when I pull up wanting nothing but a drink, but I'm behind a minivan with a 6 person complicated order, they always have that little door next to the window through which they deliver simple orders like just a drink. That is, except for this Sonic. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but if that's the case then all those other Sonic's need to chill out with giving people decent experiences that make them want to come back so this one doesn't fail to meet that entitled customer expectation.

I once ordered a cheeseburger with just ketchup here. I received a hamburger with just ketchup. I can understand why "just ketchup" might lead a person to thinking that I just wanted ketchup and a burger, but unfortunately the definition of a cheeseburger means that it includes cheese. They are the only drive thru I've ever seen fail to understand this distinction. Again, other fast food establishments need to chill out with raising customer expectations and creating this sense of entitlement where I feel that I should get what I ordered.

Edit (23 Feb 2024): For some reason I came back. I ordered two drinks via their app, which directed me to pull up to a stall and enter the number. I did that, but 20 minutes later nothing. Multiple other vehicles have parked, ordered from the kiosk, and received their orders that included drinks in this time. I really just can’t with this place. It’s insane.

Edit (7 Aug 2025) Gave them another shot. This time ordered two sodas via the app(would have ordered food, but they don’t allow combining 1/2 price happy hour drinks with food specials anymore as of a few months ago, so I only get drinks here if I go). Pulled up, checked into spot 3, and waited… and waited… and then a car pulled up next to me and checked in. Shortly after that car got 2 sodas also, and they left, and then I waited… and waited… and I’m actually still waiting now 15 minutes later. So after I submit this edit I’m going to walk up and ask what happened to my two sodas. I also think it’s time I finally write this place off. They’re way too consistent with how terrible their service is, even...

This may be the worst fast food restaurant I've ever been to.

My burger, tater tots, and shake were all tasteless - and the rest of my family had the same experience. I think the best part of my meal was the Coke - and that's not saying much.

The burger tasted like a McDonald's burger but at a premium burger price, the tots were greasy and didn't taste like much, and the vanilla shake was made of cheap soft serve and barely tasted of vanilla.

The worst part, however, was that my mother and I both ordered our burgers with onions - and our order was rung up as such. When we received our food - no onions. The server came out - he was the only redeeming quality of the restaurant - and told us he thought they were out of onions. He went back in and confirmed it - so if they knew, why weren't we told when we ordered?

On top of that, there's no condiments, etc. outside, and the order taker didn't ask us, so of course we didn't get ketchup until we asked, which at Sonic involves ringing for help in what feels like a desperate ploy for attention.

Oh, and the bathroom wasn't exactly clean and the floor was greasy.

edited to update I had basically stopped going to this establishment because it was just so bad, but I must say I went back a few weeks ago to feed my inner craving for moz sticks. I order some other food and it was perfect!!! They got everything to a t correct, they were prompt, and it was hot and fresh. They have definitely turned things around and it is noticed. Keep it up you guys

Original review I mean if you like food that taste like 6 day old grease and rude staff this is the place to go. They took forever to take my order after aburptly answering asking me to wait, no line in drive thru and only a few others at the stall. After they took my order and repeated it back to me they still made my food wrong. And for tge love of God stop cutting your onions so big. Noone wants the eat huge chunks of onion.
