We made a reservation to celebrate my mom's birthday for their weekend brunch, and while the experience had some highlights, there were a few things that could use improvement.
The brunch buffet itself was tasty, especially when the food was fresh. The shrimp and grits were definitely my favorite! However, some of the food that had been sitting under heat lamps for a while was a bit dry. Despite that, the buffet offered a great variety and was definitely a solid deal for the price. One downside, though, was that there were supposed to be two buffet lines, but they closed one line down early, even though brunch hours weren't over yet. This made the line longer and less efficient, which was a bit frustrating.
A highlight was the made-to-order omelette station, where you tell the staff your table number and they bring it to you. Everything else on the buffet was self-serve, which was fine.
Since we were there for my mom's birthday, the restaurant gave her a plate of cookies to take home (apparently they're Steve Spurrier's wife’s recipe), and they were really good! They also brought her a candle to blow out, which was nice.
We opted for the bottomless mimosas for an extra $25 per person, but the setup for this was a bit of a hassle. You’re given a ticket (kind of like a receipt) and have to walk it to the bar near the entrance, even if you're seated in the back like we were. The bar was often unmanned, and there was always a line when we went up. What was even more frustrating was the bartenders didn’t manage the line well at all—people in the back of the line were being helped first, while those of us who had been waiting at the front got ignored. When we finally did get served, the bartenders weren’t great at pouring—they spilled champagne everywhere and got our tickets wet (which was annoying because we had to keep them for each round). I understand champagne can be bubbly, but it felt like the staff wasn’t organized. Honestly, if I had known the setup would be like this, I would have just ordered individual drinks instead of going with the bottomless option—it wasn’t worth the trouble, and I felt like I didn’t get my money’s worth.
Overall, while the food was good and the atmosphere was decent, the service and drink setup left a lot to be desired. Would I come back? Maybe for the food, but definitely not for the bottomless mimosas.
