Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Florida

On new years eve .at 8:25 pm me and my family visited this location .mainly for the shakes .kids were excited as they had a huge selection of shakes .at 840 we placed our order the sign outside said they had 4.00 meals .2 of us wanted those meals .but they said the sign was old and was no longer avail. So we ordered the burger & shake for 4.00and added a dollar for fries .we all ordered a full meal 5 regular. Shake us the two that came with the burgers at 910 the server walks over and says I'm sorry we are no longer serving shakes it was our main reason comming I .but we had waited so long we decided to stay anyways . We were originally one out of 3 tables there and the only American hispanic family there .and noticed the other 2 tables all had shakes still we didnt say anything .we got got our food about 930 almost an hour after we were there ..but 2 meals my husband and sons food they forgot .we all finished our food before their meals arrived . In that time 2 more tables would walk in and 2 to go orders .and they all were served shakes . We could hear the cooks complaining and was really rude so we decided not to say anything and just let it go .it then seemed as if they told us they couldn't serve us shakes hoping we would leave .or perhaps was it a racial discrimination thing .I wanted to believe that was not the case .but everyone working and those being served were all black . This is not the first time this has happend but the first time at this location. And probably the worst experience I've ever had .the employees were extremely rude . The server seemed really nervous like it was his first day and I dont blame him . He was the only one working the floor and was very polite but everyone behind the counter was rude .disrespectful and cursing at each other and complaining and I had my children there and it was not a good environment for anyone much less children .the burgers were great . But the chilli was watered down . Fries were cold .and 2 meals didnt get served til after everyone else ate .and we were denied shakes which at first I understood and politely said no problem .until I seen everyone else got served shakes but us . Also cost them over 20.00 they lost out on . Our bill came up to 31.00 because we didnt get our shakes and was drinking water since we were getting shakes .yet we didnt get what we came for the experience was the worst we have ever had .I still gave the server a 14.00 tip while my husband and kids didnt think I should have tipped at all .I dont blame the server .which was a young soft spoken polite young man .and only person working the floor I didnt think he should have to pay for the mistakes and disappointment we went through because of the cooks and people behind the counter that were extremely rude .this was the worst experience I've ever had at steak and shake an hour and half we were there and had to leave there and go to Bob's ice cream and spend another 40 on shakes because they refuse to make us shakes . It would have been fine had I not seen atleast 13 other shakes go out after we were...

I used the Steak N Shake App to preorder a meal take out. App says ring the co formation if payment and order to drive thru to pick up your order. I go to drive thru and the order taker there says we don't do that anymore. You have to come inside. I'm guessing because they are so slow with takeout or carryout orders even doordash or Fri. Would be delayed. So I go inside and a woman look at my screen and then yells to no o me particular need order for "" . I want 30 minutes. I ask the waitress cleaning tables going back and forth from the front to back of cook line and to the tables. I figure she would know right? I see the person making orders and stuffing bags. She looks at me. Like 4 people know a customer is st ending there waiting for an order yet no one talks to anyone else about it. So I go to use the restroom and see a bag with an order sitting in an area where the waitress I spoke to earlier outs her orders in. I wait knowing the bag is there. I ask the waktress ine mire time. It was supposed ti be ready at 11:07 am and the time niw is 11:30. The waitress reply you know it says that time but the order don't come in until way after that time. I said hmmm. What about that order that's been sitting there for 30 minutes now?. She brings it up. No sorry no nothing. I feel the bag and it's cold. I said I do t want that it been sitting there for over 30 minutes. She yells really loud for floor manager. This is the same woman who told me to come inside instead if drive thru. She says well I can tell you bright now if you request a refund the money goes back in the card and it t ales 5 to 10 days. I said you know you told me to come in here. I've been waiting 45 minutes. Mist people only get 45 mins for lunch including travel time. I said why can't the order just be re-made? She says with attitude really loud I need "____". To no one in particular again with. I one I particular working carry out orders apperhently. It's so e like 10 minutes later served to me by the lady who was stuffi ng bags an hour ago. It was given with an attitude. No thank you for nothing no sorry about that mix up you know. This Steak N Shake is the worst fast food I've ever got. Maybe it was just the bad t as he from the nasty customer service and attitude I paid for that made me lose my appetite. I would t want to eat here. Maybe if you want to tick someone. Off and ruin their lunch this is the spot to recommend for sure!! Lousy customer service rude and poor management and staff with zero communication...

I love Steak ''n Shake food and it's a treat for me, especially the $4 meals!

Every one of these restaurants I've been in are excellent and well-kept.

However, last week, I was taken to this location and was appalled by the filthiness inside the dining area. I realize that it was just after lunch time and the floors were in need of being swept and spot-mopped, and this isn't the issue.

Anywhere customers can put their hands on the walls, pictures, partitions are covered with hand prints that look like they've been there for a long time. Kids have taken crayons and scribbled on the walls in places, notably on the partition between the two rows of booths. That could be scrubbed off from there to make it look better.

There's particles of food, crumbs, etc all along the tops of the long bench where it is attached to the partition, and there is stuff also in the space between the seat and the back of the bench.. The restroom stunk of urine and smells like it hadn't been cleaned all day. One of the toilets was in bad need of attention.

You have to sight by some of the servers to see them move, almost literally! We sat there waiting for service almost all of our lunch hour before finally getting up and fetching someone to come to our table. Even then, it took an additional ten minutes before that person came to the table. The restaurant was, in my estimation, about one-quarter capacity.

I will never eat at that Steak 'n Shake again and warn any others about to go there. Go to New Tampa (which I would give a five-star) or any of the other ones around but steer clear of this one! I give a one-star here because the food is still good like it is in any of the others, but I hate to see what the food prep area looks like at close range!

Staff on cell phones too much, some look drugged, complacent. Either change management, some of the servers or...
